Kirby and Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai hinted earlier this week that he was working on a new project.
And now, he finally revealed what it is. It was none other than his very own YouTube channel titled Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games.
Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games YouTube Channel
This channel will be dedicated to game development and the specifics of what makes games enjoyable to play, as the name suggests.
You can watch his first video below:
Fans and prospective developers can also appreciate other content that Sakurai has shared.
With entertaining animated slides to highlight his ideas while he narrates over them, the videos are already rather intriguing. Sakurai has already started things off with a bang on YouTube for anyone looking to learn about game creation or perhaps just be entertained by something that is also informative, according to the news story by Nintendo Life.
Although the frequency of these uploads is still unknown, Sakurai stated he intends to maintain the videos between 2 and 5 minutes long. He'll probably find it simpler to produce these consistently with such short videos, as per Comic Book.
He Also Have Separate YouTube Channel for Japanese Fans
Sakurai continues by stating that he intends to post videos in both English and Japanese (on a different channel) and that he will try to include actual game footage whenever feasible.
He did, however, voice some concern that since he is posting two copies of each video in both Japanese and English, that would violate YouTube's duplicate content policies and result in content being removed, according to The Verge.
How Does Sakurai Plan to Use His YouTube Channel
Nintendo has given him the go signal to show off the Smash Bros. development builds and design docs he's created, which will definitely excite Smash fans.
To be clear, Sakurai said that Nintendo isn't involved with his channel and that it is his own independent venture.
Nintendo Life noted that there won't be any advertising, apparently, as he has no intention of making money from it. Additionally, he won't ask to hit the notification bell or ask viewers to Like or Subscribe on a regular basis.
Additionally, because he must pay his video editors and translators, he will generally keep his videos "short and sweet."
Regrettably, Sakurai also has to make plans for any issues that other YouTubers are watching out for. He claims that the owners of the rights to the footage he uses aren't happy, as per The Verge.
