Mark Zuckerburg has confirmed that Meta's Quest Pro VR headset would come out in October.
One of Spotify's most popular podcast shows, the Joe Rogan Experience, surprisingly had Mark Zuckerburg as a guest on it.
At the opening of the episode, Rogan complimented the Meta CEO, describing how impressive the newest Quest Oculus VR headset was.
Zuckerburg proceeded to say that it is coming out in October and that the company will talk more about it at their upcoming Connect conference, which confirms the speculation on when the newest VR from Meta will be introduced.
Meta's Newest Quest VR Headset
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, just announced that his brand would be releasing a new virtual reality headset in the month of October.
There are numerous speculations on the internet that this will be a pro version of the Oculus VR headset, which might be named Quest Pro.
The CEO of the company mentioned that the upcoming product that will be available in October would have a few significant new features.
According to CNBC, Zuckerberg mentioned that the next-generation virtual reality headset would include more cutting-edge eye- and facial-tracking features.
Due to these traits, people's digital avatars in virtual reality will mimic their facial expressions, including whether they are smiling or frowning.
This is due to the fact that the company considers nonverbal communication to be more prevalent than verbal communication when discussing digital avatars that have the potential to be more aesthetically appealing and interactive.
The CEO talked about facial recognition and how the avatars are capable of accurately mimicking the user. He said that the technology that Meta has designed, after all, is to be there with the other person no matter where they actually are, hence the accuracy of the facial recognition of the avatars.
Meta's Project Cambria
During Mark Zuckerberg's interview in Joe Rogan Experience, they did not mention the official name of Meta's newest VR headset. However, as reported by Digital Trends, the upcoming device might be the current Project Cambria.
During last year's major presentation, the Facebook Connect event, Meta gave a sneak peek at its mixed reality device called Project Cambria.
It is anticipated that this VR headset would cost at least $800, which is a huge increase in comparison to the company's flagship Quest 2 VR headset, which can be purchased for either $399 or $499, depending on the model.
Meta noticeably increased the price to account for the increased cost of shipping and production. The Quest 2 VR headset has reportedly been on the market for two years now.
However, it has served its mission well by establishing a solid hold on the market and fostering an interest in virtual reality that has never been seen before.
Mark Zuckerberg Meme
Aside from the confirmation of the VR, Rogan wrapped up the almost three-hour show by jokingly mentioning the CEO of his now-infamous internet memes.
According to Business Insider, Rogan stated, "I don't like the way you sip water though, you sipping water at the Senate. You were sipping water like a robot."
Rogan laughingly said that before requesting Zuckerberg to take a drink of the water that was in front of him, which he did with a grin on his face in response.
Zuckerberg said, "The Senate testimony is not exactly an environment that is set up to accentuate the humanity of the subject."
"If you're up there for six or seven hours, you're going to make some face that's worth making a meme out of."
