Snapchat introduces a new feature, the Dual Camera.
Dual Camera is a new feature that will allow users to take pictures from two different perspectives at the same time.
Snapchat is integrating this new feature into its primary camera that will enable users to take photos and videos simultaneously with both the front-facing and rear-facing cameras on their mobile devices.
This will allow more people to feel like they are a part of the action when taking pictures. The release of the dual camera feature has been hinted at since April, when the addition of director mode was released on the platform.
The director mode feature that rolled out in April gave users access to a broader range of creative tools. Other users might be familiar with this feature as it resembles the BeReal app.
It would appear that Instagram is not the only social media company taking cues from the successful camera feature that BeReal has developed.
Despite this, the platform has implemented its own unique take on the feature and implemented its own spin on the format, prior to releasing the Dual Camera feature on Snapchat.
This version offers more power and functionality than the one that is provided by BeReal.
Snapchat Dual Camera Feature
Snapchat's Dual Camera feature, similar to BeReal's camera options, allows users to capture photos that cover two perspectives. The first viewpoint can be from the rear camera, while the second one can be from the front camera of a device.
According to MUO, Dual Camera is an add-on for Snapchat that, as its name implies, enables users to take photos and videos with both the front and rear cameras of their mobile device all at once.
Users will notice an icon on the right-hand toolbar of the Snapchat main camera that resembles two cameras stacked on top of one another when they navigate to the main camera. Users will be presented with four different dual camera options.
Horizontal, vertical, cutout, and picture-in-picture are the four different layout options available with the Dual Camera. Snapchat users also have the ability to add fan-favorite creative tools to their accounts, such as stickers, lenses, and music.
Users have the option of horizontally or vertically aligning their two images. Users also have the option to experiment with a mode known as picture-in-picture, which places a user's selfie in a teeny tiny circle in one of the four corners of the image captured by their rear-facing camera.
Another interesting mode is the cutout, it takes the user's selfie and removes the background, then replaces it with video captured by the user's rear camera.
