Samsung won't be the only company announcing a new smartphone on Sept. 4. Sony will announce the Xperia Z1 and the final press images of the handset have leaked.
Sept. 4 is going to be a busy day in the smartphone world as Samsung unveils its next-generation Galaxy Note 3 phablet at an Unpacked event the company is holding. Samsung is going to have to share the spotlight, however, as Sony will also be announcing a very highly-anticipated smartphone of its own.
The Sony 'Honami' has been making waves on the Internet for months and we'll finally see the smartphone launched as the Xperia Z1 at an event Sony has scheduled during IFA 2013 in Berlin on Sept. 4. The Z1 will replace the Xperia Z as Sony's flagship smartphone and will be directly competing with other current and soon-to-be-announced smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, Nokia Lumia 1020, and the iPhone 5S.
Images of the Xperia Z1 have been leaking at a steady rate over the last few weeks and now the smartphone's final press shots have surfaced. Xperia Blog received several images of what it claims are the official and final press photos of the Xperia Z1. The photos give us a closer and more detailed look at the Z1, showing how thin the smartphone will be and revealing its dedicated camera button and 20-megapixel G-Lens camera.
The Sony Xperia Z1 will feature a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality for mobile and run Android 4.2.2. The smartphone will be powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU).
The Xperia Z1 will also include 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. When it comes to on-board cameras, Sony will be using a 20-megapixel rear camera with ExmorRS for mobile, Sony G-Lens and BIONZ for mobile, support for 4K video recording and a 2-megapixel Exmor R front-facing camera. Wireless connectivity will include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The Z1 will be waterproof and dust-resistant (like the Xperia Z) and will be powered by a large non-removable 3,000 mAh battery.
