Windows 11's next update will arrive soon.
The next update for Microsoft's latest operating system (OS) is set to launch later this month, bringing with it new features and various improvements to computers running Windows 11.
The update is currently known as version 22H2 and is codenamed "Sun Valley 2," per Windows Central.
Windows 11 Version 22H2 Update Features And Improvements
Windows 11's Sun Valley 2 update is said to not be a massive update with radical design changes. According to Bleeping Computer, the update will be similar to Windows 10's Anniversary Update and as such, will contain "minor improvements and a few new features."
Additionally, the updates and improvements in version 22H2 will be offered as a full feature update instead of it being an enablement package.
Let's start with Windows 11's Start menu. Pure Info Tech mentioned in its article that Windows 11 users could look forward to new folders to group apps as well as an option to change the number of pins in it.
The taskbar has also been redesigned to allow Windows 11 users to drag and drop files and apps. It will also allow the Taskbar Overflow menu to hide apps that don't fit.
Windows 11 users who use frequently use snap layouts can look forward to new ones with a drag-and-drop interface. Meanwhile, Windows 11's new task manager will feature a modern interface once update 22H2 is live.
Windows 11 will also feature a new "spotlight" wallpaper feature that seems to be similar to the existing Spotlight feature for its lock screen.
The update also comes with live captions to improve understanding of spoken content as well as its accessibility.
As for controlling devices, update 22H2 comes with a new voice access feature that makes it possible for the OS' user to use their voice and control the device. The update also added new touch gestures for tablets, though what these new gestures do is still unknown.
The startup of Windows 11-enabled devices will also be different from before. Instead of an animated circle of dots, it will soon feature a progressive ring, which will also be used in other parts of the OS.
As for improvements, update 22H2 will come with a new Smart App Control that blocks dangerous apps if a user is trying to open one. The update will also improve Windows 11's Focus feature with focus session integration.
Windows 11's File Explorer can also expect improvements, with it receiving the ability to use tabs and a redesigned navigation panel.
Quick settings will soon have options to control Bluetooth devices, while Print Queue and Print dialog apps will soon have automatic printer detection.
Lastly, Windows 11 users can look forward to improvements to the OS' power management options to reduce energy consumption and the option to uninstall updates from the Settings app.

Windows 11's Sun Valley 2 update will come to Windows 11 users for free on September 20. As previously mentioned, it is the first major update for the OS and will be offered as a full feature update instead of it being an enablement package.
