Apple has finally confirmed and sent out invites for its September 10 iPhone event. Here's what we can expect to see Tim Cook and company unveil.
It has been rumored for months and today Apple put the rumors to rest as it sent out invites for its iPhone event on September 10. The company always includes some type of hint in its invites, and this one reads, "This should brighten everyone's day," with an Apple logo front and center surrounded by brightly-colored circles.
It's pretty safe to assume Apple plans on brightening the day by introducing a new less expensive iPhone for the first time, dubbed the iPhone 5C. The invite's brightly-colored circles are likely the colors we can expect to see the iPhone 5C offered in, which seems to confirm earlier rumors that the company will not release a black model. The iPhone 5C will use a polycarbonate case in order to keep the price of the smartphone down. It is expected to feature the same internals currently found in the iPhone 5, including the same 4-inch Retina Display, A6 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8-megapixel rear camera. The 5C is also expected to be offered in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of internal storage.
Apple will also announce its next flagship iPhone, the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S will use the same case design found on the iPhone 5 and is expected to be offered in at least three color choices, instead of the usual two. We have already seen leaked images of the third color, a champagne/gold model. It is expected to use a new 4-inch 1136 x 640 IGZO Retina Display, Apple's latest A7 processor, and 2GB of RAM, which is estimated to provide a 31 percent speed increase over the iPhone 5. The 5S is also rumored to feature a fingerprint scanner built into its display or home button and pack in a high-end rear camera with dual-LED flash. It is expected to be offered in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal storage, use a larger battery than the one found in the iPhone 5 and include a faster 4G LTE-Advanced radio.
Apple will also release iTunes Radio and show off the final version of iOS 7, which could contain some new features that the company has been keeping under wraps even though it has already released beta builds to developers. Siri was kept as a well-guarded secret and was never a part of iOS 5 betas; the digital assistant was unveiled when the iPhone 4S was announced, so it's possible Apple has a few tricks up its sleeve.
We'll be covering the event and bringing you all the latest Apple news on September 10.
