"The Witcher: Blood Origin," which is meant to be the prequel to the "The Witcher" series starring Henry Cavill, is heading to Netflix on December 25. Michelle Yeoh leads the cast for the series, along with Sophia Brown and Laurence O'Fuarain.
The announcement was made during Netflix's Tudum event, which also revealed the latest cast member to join the prequel series. The Tudum event likewise provided an update for season 3 of "The Witcher."

'The Witcher: Blood Origin' Heads to Netflix on Christmas Day
"The Witcher: Blood Origin" is set to make fans of "The Witcher" extra happy as it is set to premiere on Netflix on December 25.
"Set thousands of years before the story of Geralt and Ciri, 'Blood Origin' will center on the Conjunction of the Spheres, the moment in the 'Witcher' universe where humans, elves and monsters all come to inhabit the fantasy world of the series," according to a report by Engadget.
Michelle Yeoh stars as Scian, who is the protagonist of the series and elven swordsmaster who is looking for a powerful blade. Joining Yeoh in the cast are Sophia Brown, who plays nomadic elven musician éile, and Laurence O'Fuarain, who plays Fjall.

Minnie Driver is Added to the Cast
Per a report by Gizmodo, it has been announced during the Tudum event that Minnie Driver has also joined the cast. Driver is set to play the role of Seanchai, a shapeshifting collector. Aside from that, Driver is set to also be the narrator of the series.
Driver says in an interview with Netflix that "Where 'The Witcher' came from is a whole world and you need some help understanding that."
"So I'm pivotal in helping people understand where this origin story comes from," she adds.
Release Window for 'The Witcher' Season 3
Aside from news on the prequel series, an update was also provided for the third season of "The Witcher" during the Tudum event. However, only a release window was given.
According to a report by PC Gamer, the third season of "The Witcher" is scheduled for the Summer 2023 release window. As previously mentioned, no other details, including a trailer, have been provided during the Tudum event, so we will have to wait a little longer for them.
The Netflix series adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's book series made its debut on December 20, 2019. The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, the main protagonist of the story.
Season two premiered on Netflix on December 17, 2021. Both season one and season two are eight episodes long.
