Valve Will Attempt To Fulfill Steam Deck Pre-Orders Before 2023

Every time a well-known tech company releases a new device with promises of innovation and top-notch system updates, people get giddy and try to get their hands on it. Though, it's not always that the supply meets the demands.

One of the few downsides to this is that the Steam Deck is hard to acquire especially if you didn't order them fast enough. Some have even ordered their Steam Decks one year in advance.

As fortune has it, according to The Gamer, Valve will make an effort to meet the unexpected demand and get everyone their Steam Decks before 2023. The reason why Steam Deck cannot catch up to the number of orders was because of the supply chain shortfalls.

Based on a blog post from the official website of Steam, Things are clearing up and they are continuing to ramp production which makes the production of the devices much faster.

What Makes the Steam Deck Such A Hot Commodity?

When Valve released Steam Deck, people went crazy about the idea of a handheld, portable mini-PC. The selling point was that people can play Steam games anytime, anywhere using a device that you can fit in your pocket.

The demand comes mostly from gamers that reside in the US and Europe, but Japan is catching up quickly with its growing market. Erik Peterson, Valve's marketing rep, even said that in terms of market growth speed, Japan may be the fastest one in the world.

Although Swapna Krishna from Wired implied that the FPS, response time, and graphics quality of the Steam Deck are far from what you will get when gaming on a PC or console. But, if you take into account the size of the components and the portability of a Steam Deck, its performance will be more than good enough.

Should You Get a Steam Deck for Yourself?

Steam partnered with AMD to create the Steam Deck's APU, and it is a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse so it can run even the latest AAA games you want to play. It has a seven-inch touch screen which can make it easier for you to navigate the screen.

When playing FPS games, there are two features from the Steam Deck that can help you get an edge. First is the Trackpads, which allow you to quickly shift perspective, and then the Gyro, which lets you guide your aim more precisely by physically positioning your device.

There are three options to choose from when you place an order for the Steam Deck. The 64GB eMMC, the 256GB NVMe SSD, or the 512GB NVMe SSD. If you find yourself needing more space for your files, you can chip in a microSD card.

It has a 40-watt-hour battery which can let you play for up to eight hours depending on taxing your game can be on battery life. Plus, the USB-C jack is multi-purpose, so you can use it for charging, peripherals, or projecting your game to a bigger screen, as said on Steam's official website.
