Twitter's edit button is not ready for everyone just yet.
The popular social media app recently announced that its long-awaited and much-requested edit feature would not be coming to the US on release day.
The edit feature is only available to Twitter Blue users, though it is unclear if it will become available to all users in the future.
Twitter Edit Button Availability Details
Twitter mentioned in its tweeted announcement on its official Twitter Blue page that its new "Edit Tweet" feature was recently rolled out to Twitter Blue members in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand only, as was planned.
Although the company added that Twitter Blue users in the US would get to use the feature sometime in the future, it didn't share a specific date.
Engadget also reports that the feature will become available in other markets, though no specific date was given.
"We're hoping that, with the availability of Edit Tweet, Tweeting will feel more approachable and less stressful," Twitter said in a blog post on Sept. 1. "You should be able to participate in the conversation in a way that makes sense to you, and we'll keep working on ways that make it feel effortless to do just that."
The ability to edit a tweet has been a long time coming to the popular social media and microblogging platform. Twitter's leadership confirmed that the company is working on it despite its then-CEO, Jack Dorsey, saying in 2020 that there will be no edit button on Twitter.
The feature works as a retroactive tweet editor, allowing Twitter users to edit their tweets within 30 minutes of their publication, though this time limit may change in the future.

After a user edits their tweet, a "Last Edited" notation will appear before their tweet's timestamp along with a specific time, representing the time when it was last edited.
However, users can only edit their tweets five times, as Twitter is afraid that users might abuse the new feature to change their tweets drastically on a whim.
As a result, Twitter's edit feature is best used when correcting errors, uploading additional content, and adding tags.
However, even if a user edits their tweet, a permanent copy of the original can be viewed by clicking on a tweet's label, allowing anyone to access the tweet's history.
Time stamps of when the edits were made will also be included in the tweet's history.
Several industry professionals speculated that there would be Twitter users who will try to abuse the feature by posting "malicious political propaganda or fraudulent bitcoin transactions. However, Twitter assured its users and these professionals that it would monitor its users' editing behavior for any abuse of the new feature.
Will The Feature Reach All Twitter Users?
Tech Crunch mentioned in its report that the platform's new "Edit tweet" feature would eventually be available to those not subscribed to Twitter Blue in the future.
The company said that it is making the feature available to paid users first to gather feedback to fine-tune it to people's preferences.
