Here's How You Can Watch the Meta Connect 2022 Event

Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has been expanding beyond Facebook and towards augmented and virtual realities. When the Meta Horizon Worlds launched, we got a peek at what the Facebook creator was striving to reach.

The company has announced that they will be having their annual conference called Meta Connect this October 11, where the Meta CEO will open with a keynote speech to share updates about the VR developer ecosystem, a new VR headset, and the metaverse.

Can I Watch Meta Connect 2022?

Yes. People are free to watch the event via live stream, which can be viewed directly from the Reality Labs Facebook Page. Just like other Facebook live streams, the stream will be available for viewing after it has ended. Of course, if you want to catch it live, you have to catch the stream at 10 a.m. PT or 1 p.m. PT, as mentioned in IGN.

If you want, you can even watch it live in VR. Note that you will need a Meta Quest 2 headset in order to do this. If you do, then you must update your headset to the latest version of the Meta Quest Software. You also have to make sure that you have the latest version of the Meta Horizon Worlds app.

After you have the updates sorted out, register on the Oculus website to attend. Lastly, open Meta Horizon Worlds, go to the Events tab on the menu, and look for the Meta Connect program. After that, you can watch the conference via virtual reality.

What Should I Expect?

Meta CEO, developers, creators, and leaders, will be speaking about updates on the VR developer ecosystem, and their progress toward the metaverse. They will also be introducing Project Cambria, which is the new high-end VR headset with mixed reality, according to Meta's official website.

The headset will include AR experiences, and word on the net is that it might be a little heavy on the finances. The Meta devices will be available on meta.com. Although, if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, you can visit the physical store on their campus in Burlingame, California. In there, you can get a hands-on experience with all their hardware products.

Augmented Reality vs Virtual Reality

It can be confusing to people what the difference between the two is. Since Meta is working on both, it might be a good idea to understand which is which.

Augmented Reality or AR, are digital elements that are incorporated with your actual reality. It provides information and data about the things in your surroundings. If you can't imagine what that looks like, just imagine the visual of Iron Man's AI J.A.R.V.I.S. and F.R.I.D.A.Y. and how it displays data for Tony Stark to utilize.

Virtual Reality or VR, is a complete simulation that provides its users with an immersive experience. It replaces the real world with a completely fabricated one via VR devices. What's good about virtual reality is that developers have full control of the environment they want to create, ergo, making a fictional world is much easier.
