In a world where 5G denotes power, T-Mobile would be king of all carriers in the US.
Two separate studies from two trusted companies have found that T-Mobile has the most reliable 5G network in the US, beating out its major competitors like AT&T and Verizon.
T-Mobile had the lead when it comes to 5G connectivity even before 2021, regardless of whether its competitors had access to the C-band spectrum or not, per Digital Trends.
T-Mobile 5G Connectivity Dominance Findings
According to a recent study from Umlaut, T-Mobile surpassed Verizon and AT&T in all of the five categories the analyst firm looked into. Based on its report, T-Mobile has a significant lead on the download and upload speeds of its 5G network.
Things are different when it comes to 5G coverage and 5G stability, with the difference between T-Mobile and AT&T being only a few points. For instance, T-Mobile scored 93.1%, while AT&T received 91.3% when it comes to 5G coverage across the US. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has a 92% score in the stability of its 5G network, while AT&T only scored 88.4% in the same category.
Despite these rather stellar findings for T-Mobile, the latency of its 5G network still leaves much to be desired, with Verizon getting a 36.9% score from Umlaut, while T-Mobile got 22.2% - a significant lead in 5G network latency for Verizon.
These findings mean that T-Mobile's 5G network has the best 5G network in the US in almost every category besides latency, but AT&T is catching up with the king when it comes to 5G coverage and network stability.
Ookla's latest study also confirms Umlaut's findings, with the firm seeing almost the same results. Based on its report, T-Mobile's 5G network provides a median download speed of 116.14 Mbps - double what Verizon and AT&T can provide.
Meanwhile, T-Mobile's median upload speed is 10.91 Mbps, a value significantly higher than Verizon and AT&T can provide, with the former only having 8.3 Mbps and the latter getting 7.55 Mbps.
When it comes to latency, Ookla found that all three carriers are ahead-to-head, with AT&T getting the highest while T-Mobile and Verizon became second and third, respectively.
Despite that, T-Mobile 5G network was found to be the most available, best performing, and most consistent in its overall performance. However, when it comes to 5G consistency, Verizon and T-Mobile are going head-to-head.
What Does This Mean For Consumers?
These findings help consumers understand how carriers stack up to each other when it comes to their respective 5G networks, per CNET. As such, these reports would help them decide which carrier they would rather have when considering internet connectivity at home and on the go.
However, something that works for one person may not work for someone else, which means that user preference will still decide at the end of the day, per Droid-Life.
This sentiment is evidenced by JD Power's study naming Verizon as the most reliable network in July due to the methodologies it used in its study.
