A few images of HTC One Max's prototype have emerged online, side-by-side with the flagship HTC One.
HTC launched its new flagship, the HTC One, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this year and the handset made its way to shelves in April. The company also launched the compact version of the One, the HTC One Mini, in August and recent speculations suggest that the Taiwanese smartphone maker will also launch a bigger version of the One called the HTC One Max.
The HTC One has been the closest Android competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One Mini is also expected to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. Similarly, the company will hope that the HTC One Max gives stiff competition to the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
A few images of the HTC One Max's prototype have leaked courtesy of Dutch website MobiLeaks.
"According to the source, the device shown in the middle still a prototype of the HTC Max and not the final retail model, but clearly the same model as the previously leaked images. Thus, under the camera to see what the fingerprint sensor is supposed to be a square. The One Max is probably the second unit with such a feature, after this week's iPhone 5S is announced that a fingerprint scanner in the home button has processed," reports MobiLeaks (translated).
The HTC One Max is expected to feature top-end hardware specifications. The phablet is speculated to sport a 5.9-inch 1080p Super LCD display. A 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor along with 2GB of RAM are expected to power the device. The handset is rumored to have 16GB of internal storage, probably with the option to expand the memory using a microSD card. Either a 3,000mAh or a 3,300mAh battery may fuel the handset.
The phablet space is getting very competitive and it will be interesting to see if the HTC One Max is able to compete successfully with its rivals and leave a significant mark in the market.
HTC has not announced its plans to launch the HTC One Max but phablet enthusiasts will hope to get their hands on the upcoming phablet as soon as possible.
