Halloween is right around the corner. If you find yourself racking your brain about what to wear, here are a couple of that video game-themed costumes might just tickle your fancy.
1. Pyramid Head from Silent Hill
As mentioned in Looper, Pyramid Head is probably one of the creepiest characters you'll come across in the game franchise, Silent Hill. It would also be easy to recreate the costume including his famous bloody giant knife.
You can make the knife out of cardboard or other sturdy materials that would be easy to cut. The "head" of the character is also fairly easy to make especially if you've dabbled in costume-making before. You wouldn't need complicated blueprints to craft the headgear. Add in some tattered pants, and you have Pyramid Head.
2. Mario from Super Mario
If you're in need of a quick and easy costume because you don't have time to make one, this is perfect for you. The hardest thing you'll have to do is sew Mario's hat. In fact, you can actually just purchase it from Amazon, if you don't feel like doing the work.
You can buy it for under $15 and it already comes with Mario's distinctive mustache. You can also add in a denim overall and a red shirt if you don't have one. Easy peasy.
3. Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn
If you feel like you're up to the challenge, then you can choose to make costumes that are far more detailed. Aloy has a variety of outfits you can choose from, but all of them require a lot of work to make.
Post-apocalyptic costumes tend to be complicated in design since usually, they appear as if they were just pieced together using different materials. On the other hand, think about how many looks you'll catch for an impressive costume.
4. Ciri from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
If you're a fan of CD Projekt Red's work, you'll be happy to try dressing up as Ciri, as suggested by Costume Wall. It's also the kind of costume that won't take a lot of work, but unlike Mario, you'll have to do a little bit for this.
Of course, it'll be easy to buy Ciri's clothes since they are pretty common, like the white long-sleeved shirt, the brown leather pants, leather gloves, and the khaki knee-high boots. However, you might find yourself working with faux leather to recreate the armor/corset, the leather armband, and her sword sheath.

5. Alexios or Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey
You have to admit, Alexios/Kassandra's armor options are pretty cool. It gives you a glimpse of what armor was like in ancient Greece, and some of them have hints of Greek mythology in them. Granted, a lot of them are complicated and could be hard to craft, but some are pretty easy that even a novice costume maker could manage it.
On the plus side, if you have the game, you can toggle the character around in the inventory tab to have a closer look at the details of the armor you want to replicate.
6. V from Cyberpunk 2077
This costume idea is more of a loophole. Honestly, all you'll need are clothes that look cool enough to make you look like a top-tier merc from Night City. Both female and male V wear everyday clothes that consist of inner and outer clothes for the upper body, some pants, and cool kicks.
Additional points of you manage a leather jacket, as well as a few temporary tattoos, body paint, or makeup that make you look like you have cyberware.
7. Kratos from God of War
If you don't mind having full body paint, then you dress up as Kratos. The upside with Kratos is that he usually has very little armor. Other than the pauldron or the single-shoulder armor he wears, others are usually just normal pants and boots covered in random pieces of cloth. Of course, you'll have to place them ruggedly but also in a way that looks appealing.
Use a strip of cloth and wrap them around your wrist, and maybe add some chains for effect. If you want, or if you have the time, you can craft your own Leviathan Axe or Blades of Chaos. Other than it being extremely cool, it would also bring the costume together.
