Apple Pay is Still Not Accepted at Walmart

Despite requests from all across America, Walmart refuses to let customers use Apple Pay for online transactions in digital checkouts.

Walmart, one of the biggest retail names in the United States, still does not recognize Apple Pay as a legitimate cashless payment method in their stores in promotion of Walmart Pay.

Walmart Bars Apple Pay In Favor Of Their Own Payment App

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, digital wallets like Apple Pay have allowed customers to conduct digital transactions through cashless options.

Major retail chains from around the globe like Walmart have introduced customers to easier checkout methods for their convenience and safety.

Go Banking Rates writes that in these payment applications, users can link their debit and credit cards to make easier transactions across physical stores and online shoppings portals.

However, although Apple Pay has made a name for itself as a credible online payment option, Walmart still has no plans on implementing it in their stores in the future.

According to Mac Rumors, the retail company has instead committed to Walmart Pay, their own payment method available through the Walmart App on iOS.

Unlike Apple Pay that uses NFC technology like many other mobile wallets, Walmart uses QR codes that customers can scan for checkout.

This technology is Walmart's investment on technologies that make customer's shopping and checkout experiences better altogether.

Additionally, by avoiding Apple Pay, Walmart avoids the extra fee Apple asks from its affiliates, which can directly impact the companies' profits.

There Is Convenience In Using Walmart Pay

It is certainly beneficial for Walmart to push for its own mobile payment app since it does not only push for brand awareness, but it also lets the company collect revenue from Walmart Pay.

Customers may also benefit in optin to use Walmart Pay in place of other payment options since it lets them keep their purchase history where they can find receipts if they ever need to return an item.

According to Go Banking Rates, Walmart Pay is extremely secure for customers because it keeps user data confidential, and is also easily accessible through a PIN code or Touch ID.

For the sake of convenience, Walmart Pay also asks their users to consider downloading the Walmart Pay to make the checkout smoother at Walmart stores.

After this, users can select Walmart Pay as their preferred payment method by choosing credit, debit, or gift cards in the options displayed.

To simplify, users can add an online payment method by going to the Settings, selecting Account, choosing the Wallet option, adding the Payment Method, and selecting Save Card.

However, should customers still choose to use other payment methods other than Walmart Pay and Apple Pay, they can also use Paypal, Affirm, or Capital One Credit Cards.

Although Walmart still refuses to accept Apple Pay in their stores, Apple's payment application still remains as the most widely accepted online payment method for 90% of the United States.

Since its launch in October 2014, Apple has been used by customers to execute payments and checkouts in major retailers like The Home Depot, Lowe's, and Kroger, Mac Rumors says.
