Fiido found its hands full trying to appease its customers following reports that its T1 model started to show a similar defect to its futuristic Fiido X e-bike, which had the inclination to break in half six months ago.
The e-bike company based in Hongkong recalled Fiido X in April after Electrek began to receive reports of the e-bike's defect.
Fixes Plus $10,000
After it received reports of T1 snafu, the company immediately addressed the issue internally. Later it created an online tool to help T1 e-bike owners determine if their e-bike was on the list of models in question.
Not only that. Fiido promised to compensate T1 owners to the tune of $10,000.
The Hong Kong-based company is ramping up efforts to redesign the defective Fiido T1 to let the e-bike owners feel that everything is going to be okay.
3 Fixes Fiido Did on T1
Here are the three fixes the Hong Kong-based company has done so far.
- Fiido introduced a new reinforcement to the frame of T1 models. This reinforcement is now in the production department. Fiido explained the problem has something to do with its downtube design flaw. The company did not only reinforce the exterior frame of the tube, but it also reinforced the interior as well.
- In what appears to be an act of goodwill towards its customers, the company also introduced some updates to the bike. These updates include replacing the mechanical disc brakes with hydraulic ones.
- The company further assured its customers it is not taking matters lightly. In a video released by Fiido, the T1 frames undergo testing to what it called an accelerated life cycle test.
The company did not stop in mere technicalities. Fiido announced it is extending the warranty of the redesigned product to 5 years.
What Fiido Exactly Says
- The frame of all T1 models, in-stock and redesigned, will have a warranty period of 5 years.
- Fiido offers a $10,000 compensation to the owners of the new T1 models if the frame-breaking problem occurs in the redesigned units.
All is well again. Hopefully.
There is renewed confidence in Fiido on its T1 models after they had fixed the problem. It has already started shipping new T1 e-bikes to owners who suffered from defective frames, Electrek reports.
The company, the report said, is asking the T1 owners with defective frames to save the original battery and charger.
Based on the documents Electrek has seen, the new e-bikes will arrive in the United States on Nov. 7. The company will start reaching out to the owners a week after the arrival of the replacement.
Fiido promised to complete the replacement of all affected T1 models by the end of December.
All Starts Well, Ends Well?
All companies suffer setbacks as they roll their products to the market. This problem encountered by Fiido is no exception.
The good thing here is how the company handles the situation as it happens. And the Hong Kong-based e-bike manufacturer came out of the storm with flying colors.
It is notable the company had exerted all efforts to make it easy for customers by setting up the online tool.
The speed by which the company addressed the issue shows that Fiido did not take things lightly or for granted. It took less than a month for the company to solve the problem and ship out to the customers the redesigned T1.
This is perhaps the underlying charism why Fiido's e-bikes are popular in the United States.
