Halloween is upon us and many have been getting into the spirit of the spooky, terror-filled holiday. Google is no exception to that and has even brought back an interactive Doodle from years back. It is not just any interactive Doodle as it is actually a game where you can join a team that needs to complete a goal in order to win.

Here is what you have to know about this year's Halloween Google Doodle:

Yes, you read that right. Google has brought back 2018's Great Ghoul Duel Doodle inn time for Halloween. However, it is not exactly the same as the Doodle from years back.

Similar to the original version, the Great Ghoul Duel Doodle is a multiplayer interactive game. Anyone from around the world can join a team of four. As a team, your goal is to get the most number of wandering spirit flames before the moon disappears.

You are either Team Green or Team Purple. Characters under Team Green include Emerald, Jade, Kelly, Moss, Olive, and Sage. Characters under Team Purple include Amethyst, Iris, Mauve, Mulberry, Periwinkle, and Plum.

According to Google, what is different with this year's version is player's can expect new characters, game maps, and even special power-ups to add to the experience.

Things to Take Note of When Playing

A team only has two minutes to collect as many wandering spirit flames as they can. In order for it to count, a wandering spirit flame must be brought back to to the team's homebase.

However, it should be ntoed that players from the opposing team can intercept the spirit flame and take it as theirs.

While you can always play with random people around the world, you can also set up a game that can host up to seven of your family and friends. This can be done through a custom intivation link.

Previous Interactive Halloween Google Doodles

The Great Ghoul Duel Doodle and its sequel are not the only instances that Google opted for an interactive game as its Halloween Doodle. In 2015, Google introduced the Global Candy Cup where players joined a team and compete to collect the most candies before the end of Halloween.

In 2016, Google introduced the cat spell-casting game called Magic Cat Academy.

"This year's Halloween Doodle follows freshman feline Momo on her mission to rescue her school of magic," the Google Doodle's description reads. "Help her cast out mischievous spirits by swiping in the shape of the symbols above the ghosts' heads."

Other Halloween Google Doodles, however, are not games. Some are interactive still, while some are pretty much just animated gifs.
