7 Tips to Boost Your Android Phone's Performance

If your phone's performance starts to get noticeably slow, your patience will definitely get tested. It could get quite irritating when your phone takes forever to load apps or even unlock when you type in your password. Here are some tips to boost your phone's performance.

1. Uninstall Unused Apps

If you don't need or don't use the app anymore, uninstall it. Apps take up storage space on your phone. Plus, some apps run in the background, so they will add to your phone's data usage.

When these collectively run and take up space, your phone won't be able to run smoothly, as mentioned by Hongkiat.

2. Add Storage

If you're using an Android phone and running out of storage, then you're in luck. It's one of the advantages of an Android device, having a microSD card slot, according to Hindustan Times.

Depending on the phone's capacity for storage expansion, you can insert a 2GB to 32GB microSD into your phone's slot.

3. Update Your Device

You need to update your device with the latest firmware. Google has improvements for newly released Android systems. These updates include higher performance speed, stability, connectivity, and more.

To make sure that your device is running on the latest software, go to Settings, then scroll down and look for Software Update. If it's not the latest, then tap Download and Install.

4. Know Your Device's Limitations

Not all devices are the same. It's important to check your Android phone's specs to see what it's capable of. If you have a small storage space, as well as a low GB RAM, then you'll have to avoid heavy apps.

If you put too much burden on your phone, it might cease to work completely.

5. Disable Apps You Don't Use

Disabling is different from uninstalling. There are some apps that come with the phone, and users can't uninstall them, according to Android Authority.

To disable them, you can long press the app icon, and options will appear including Disable. If that doesn't work, go to Settings, then Apps, then Installed Apps, and disable them from there.

6. Clear App Cache

With every action you take in each app, it accumulates new data. Over time, this will pile up and slow down your phone. You'll be surprised how an app can take up as much as 2 GB worth in cache. To clear the cache for each app, go to Settings, then Apps, then click on the app you want to clear.

After that, scroll down and tap on Storage. At the bottom right corner, you'll see Clear Cache. This could also be an alternative if you can't let go of any apps on your phone.

7. Factory Reset

If all these solutions still don't work, you might need to bring in the big guns. It's the last resort, but it could also be the only solution left. A factory reset will basically give you a clean slate, so if your data is not backed up automatically, you might want to do that first.

To do this, go to Settings, then General Management, then Reset. You'll immediately see a Factory Data Reset button.
