It has been confirmed by no other than Neil Gaiman that 'The Sandman' will return to your screens for season two.
There have been cancellation rumors circulating in the Twittersphere about the show, started by a fake Twitter account. An accidental tweet from DC Comics' official Twitter page has somewhat assuaged people's fears.
The now-deleted tweet said: "The dream continues. @Netflix_Sandman will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless." Gaiman confirmed this by stating that the thing we were all hoping would happen, has indeed happened.
'The Sandman'
The show has been a hit ever since it was released on Netflix. It was talked about for weeks and even managed to give people a new supply of memes (which is a good thing in this case). It was watched for a total of 69.5M hours in its first week. The second week, even more so, gathered 127.5M. It continued to be streamed on Netflix in its third and fourth weeks, getting 77.2M and 53.8M, respectively, according to Deadline.
The story revolves around Dream played by Tom Sturridge, one of the seven supreme beings called The Endless. The others are Destiny, Death, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium. Season one focuses more on the adventures of the lord of Dreams as he escapes from being captured by Roderick Burgess, played by Charles Dance.
He goes on a quest to find his equipment- his pouch of sand, his helm, and his ruby. In his adventure, he meets the other important characters within the series, like Lucifer Morningstar played by Gwendoline Christie, and Corinthian by Boyd Holbrook. It also features characters like Death, Johanna Constantine, and Rose.
The show released a bonus episode apart from its initial launch. It featured Neil Gaiman's graphic novels, "a Dream of a Thousand Cats," and "Calliope." It had appearances from famous actors like James McAvoy, Sandra oh, David Tennant, and Michael Sheen.

Neil Gaiman's Other Works
The famous author has created many books over the years, and some have even made it to the screen prior to "The Sandman." One that you may be familiar with is the stop-motion animated fantasy horror film "Coraline." Released in 2009, the movie was based on Neil Gaiman's novella with the same title.
Lucifer Morningstar, a character from the DC Universe created by Neil Gaiman, also managed to get its own show. Titled "Lucifer," starring Tom Ellis, the show reached six seasons before its final episode. Although he was canonically the same Lucifer Morningstar that was also in "The Sandman," they decided to recast him.
Gaiman thought that the character was too lovable to be perceived as a threat, as mentioned in Fansided. Either way, Christie performed commendably in the role. One of the famous scenes in the show was the battle between Lucifer and Dream. It showed a battle of wit, all while the imagination manifests in the physical world.
Gaiman even expressed that he was up for a 'Luciverse,' where the two cast Lucifer Morningstars would go on a road trip. It would definitely be an interesting thing to see, seeing as they have different personalities of hot and cold.
