Peacock Will Now Offer Live TV From Every NBC Station

Peacock is now adding live TV to its service.

NBC Universal has announced that all the customers in 210 markets will be able to access their local NBC station all day, every day. Some are already live as of today, and everyone can purchase the service that provides live TV by November 30. Subscribers will see a new channel on the Peacock homepage, which will match their local broadcast network, according to The Verge.

How Much Will It Cost?

Well, the live TV feature is only available for Peacock's Premium Plus subscription, which costs $10 a month or $100 a year. With live TV, subscribers will be able to watch NBC primetime hits like Law & Order: SVU, Young Rock, Chicago Fire, and Dateline NBC. They will also be able to view The Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live.

Just this October, Peacock reported 30 million active accounts, and more than half of that are paying subscribers. Jeff Shell, the CEO of NBC Universal, said that it was 70% more than when they started the year. However, of all the users, the majority only use the Premium plan, which costs $5. It gives the subscribers access to WWE, Sunday Night Football, Premier League, and the World Cup, but not live TV.

Joining the Competition

A lot of streaming services offer live TV now as well. Among those are Sling, Youtube TV, and Hulu with Live TV. But, unlike Peacock, every other provider has increased their prices. Still, the more expensive choices have more titles to offer, which explains the prices.

Although, if a user is contented with NBC shows and standard programming, they could opt for the cheaper choice. This could potentially pull subscribers away from other streaming services and make Peacock's market share grow.

Competitors

If you want to check out your options first before subscribing to Peacock, here are other streaming services with live TV, as suggested by PC Mag.

  • Hulu + Live TV

The subscription plan is significantly more expensive, which will cost you $70 per month. Even if it does include Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, you'll have to suffer through ads. If you can't stand the ads, you'll have to pay $76 per month, and ESPN+ will still have a few of them.

However, the plan does have a lot to offer. Hulu + Live TV has an extensive lineup of TV channels, and you'll have a lot to choose from with their TV shows and movies. You can download up to 50 hours in your DVR storage so you can watch offline.

  • YouTube TV

You can try to look at YouTube TV. It costs $65 per month, but before you dismiss it, try and look into what you'll be getting. You'll get more than 100 channels where you can watch live sports, news, and entertainment. There are also add-ons if you want more content, like Acorn TV, CuriosityStream, and NBA League Pass.

  • FuboTV

This service is the best option if you're mainly into sports. Among its 130+ channels are CBS, FOX, NBA TV, NBC, and the NFL Network. Other than that, you'll also get Syfy, HGTV, Comedy Central, BBC America, IFC, and USA Network. All of that will cost you $70 a month. If you want more channels, you can change your plan to Elite, with more than 190+ channels for $80 a month.
