Good news for "The Witcher" fans, you don't have to wait till next summer to see something new with the series.
Netflix has a Christmas treat for all the fans of the show as the streaming platform will release "The Witcher: Blood Origin" on December 25. It's a four-episode prequel series of the show. And on Thursday, Netflix just dropped the trailer for the series.
'The Witcher' Prequel Will Explain How the First Witcher is Created
According to Digital Trends, the teaser trailer for the upcoming miniseries suggests that it's both the end of an era and at the same time, the beginning of something new.
The story of "The Witcher: Blood Origin" takes place about 1,200 years before the events of the current "The Witcher" series, as per Polygon. It will reveal how the first Witcher was created and why.
It was set when the worlds of men, elves, and monsters merged into one. Given the new dangerous world, an equally dangerous protector is needed. This is where the Witchers fit into the upcoming series.

Michelle Yeoh as Scian Shines in 'The Witcher: Blood Origin' Teaser
Surely, you will not miss Scian in the teaser. Her character is played by the action icon Michelle Yeoh.
As the last living member of a tribe of sword-elves, Scian appears to be destined to play an important role in the creation of the Witchers.
However, as the trailer suggests, Scian has a duty to finish first. She has to find a blade that was wrongfully taken from her people. She is willing to do almost anything just to get it back.
In the teaser, you would hear a haunting singing voice. It belongs to Eile, played by Sophia Brown.
She was part of the Queen's Guard, however, she eventually decided that she wants to be a traveling musician. But it seems that she doesn't have the option of living a peaceful life given her skills as a warrior.
Along with Yeoh and Brown, the series also stars Laurence O'Fuarain as Fjall, a man who is on a personal mission to seek revenge.
Other stars include Lenny Henry as Chief Druid Balor, Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Dylan Moran as Uthrok One-Nut, Nathaniel Curtis as Brían, Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Jacob Collins-Levy as Eredin, Francesca Mills as Meldof, and Huw Novelli as Callan "Brother Death,"
The series was created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich based on the original "The Witcher" novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. Meanwhile, Sarah O'Gorman and Vickey Jewson directed the prequel.
Henry Cavill Departs from "The Witcher"
Just last month, Henry Cavill made an unexpected announcement that he is departing from the series. He is stepping away from his lead role as Geralt of Rivia after Season 3.
Replacing Cavill in season four of the series is Liam Hemsworth, who said that he is "over the moon" to be able to play the role of Geralt of Rivia, according to iTechPost.
Cavill has played the role of Geralt since "The Witcher" debuted in December 2019. You will see him play the iconic role until season three, which will be released in summer 2023.
