Amazon launches a new widget especially for Alexa Shopping List, which lets Android and iPhone users view their voice-assistant generated list more conveniently.
According to The Verge, the widget shows the shopper's list on the homescreen of their mobile device, which makes it easier to keep an eye on the items they need while at the grocery store.
Alexa's Shopping List's New Feature Will Compete With Popular Apps Of The Same Kind
The new feature Amazon offers is accessible to smartphones by installing Alexa, and updating it to use its latest version.
When installed on an iOS device, users will get two size options, where one will display two items and one will list up to seven items at once.
Users who have the iPhone will also be able to add the numbered shopping list as a lock screen widget, accessible by swiping left from the lock screen.
While crossing off items on the list is not possible on the widget, one tap on it will take users directly to the Alexa app where they can view their whole shopping list.
On the other hand, using the widget on Android devices will allow users to check off items on the list, and to manually refresh the widget, which is also resizeable.
However, unlike the iOS version of the widget, the Android version of Alexa's Shopping List widget will not take users to the main application once tapped, but directly to the search field.
The Verge writes that while the upgrade to the Alexa Shopping list is not not perfect, it allows users to get a quicker, easier, and more efficient shopping experience.
What Is Alexa Shopping List
Alexa's Shopping List is one of the voice assistant's offerings, which allows users to search and shop faster by adding items on their shopping list through the Alexa app or by asking Echo devices.
It also lets shoppers categorize their items by department as they add them to the list, which is always available in the Alexa or Amazon app anytime and anywhere.
According to Amazon, the Alexa Shopping List can be used in these four ways:
By saying "Alexa, what's on my shopping list," Alexa will respond by reading out loud the first five items users put on their lists.
Users can add items on their lists by simply saying "Alexa, add milk to my shopping list," for example, and the voice assistant will confirm that it has added the item to the list.
Removing an item from the list is possible by saying the command "Alexa, check off milk from my shopping list," for example, to which Alexa will respond with a confirmation if she has performed the action.
By saying "Alexa, clear my shopping list," Amazon's voice assistant will tick everything off a user's shopping list.
It is undeniable that Alexa's Shopping List has been proven handy in the past, but with the new feature, Amazon is hoping to make grocery shopping even better, especially with the holidays approaching.
