Andrei Rukavitsyn is a talented IT specialist, a candidate of technical sciences, the author of many cited publications and 7 patents in the field of artificial intelligence and information security, a member of the respected organization called "Leaders Excellence" and a jury in other distinguished organization called" Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE".
Andrei shared his vision of how an IT specialist can save a company from losses, and find a new solution; he spoke about his future career plans, as well as what goals an experienced software developer set.
You worked for the leading CIS company in the production and sale of car accessories and designer rugs - Trans-Express LLC. Will you tell us how you ended up in a position in this company, and how your activities influenced your position?
Trans-Express found me thanks to my scientific publications. According to them, they were impressed by the system of multi-class content definition of web pages. During my work there, Trans-Express LLC increased its income by 10 times - before I joined the company, the revenue was 13 million rubles per year. Thanks to the innovations that I implemented, the revenue of the company grew to 124.5 million rubles in 2020.
One of the principal changes concerned the development of new solutions in product construction. Thanks to this, the company got an enormous influx of new clients and improved its competitiveness to the highest level in the market.
In addition, I implemented the automation of the key processes for the processing and delivery of orders, and optimization of the main processes, and as result, it made it possible to save money by reducing the work of managers and the time for processing orders for the workshop, and many other things.
At the moment, you work for one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world - T-systems. What are your responsibilities?
At T-Systems, I am leading the team, which is responsible for interface development, making decisions in architecture, and dealing with various tasks for the needs of a large western client.
For example, I automated the components supply of Daimler. Thanks to this, the company was able to reduce costs by 6 percent and save hundreds of thousands of euros for the client company.
We heard that thanks to your assistance, LETI succeeded in receiving the highest award - a grant from the president and funding. Will you tell us how you managed to do it?
At the university, I was working on the project "Innovative Solution for Protecting Cloud Computing Systems from DDoS attacks". Data protection is a weak point in modern programming. Together with my team, I succeeded in developing a new technology that covered all the shortcomings of already proven methods but still had their own holes. Thanks to this development, the university received a grant from the President, who financially supported our project.
What are your current goals in life and where do you see yourself in 10 years?
My current goal, no matter how trivial it may sound, is to keep on improving my professional skills in the IT sphere. At the moment, the most developed IT industry is in the United States; that is why I am motivated to move there to exchange my experiences and participate in various projects that are able to change our modern world. I am sure that my knowledge and experience can be very useful, and I would like to participate in a certain significant social project.
Within 10 years, I would like to run my own R&D company or manage a project that is able to affect the life of the entire mankind in the future: the conquest of space, bionic implants, or systems for helping disabled people.
Have you ever received any awards or accolades in your career?
When I was younger, the recognition of my talents and my hard work was very important to me, but now the results of my work and the recognition of my colleagues are more valuable to me.
The highest award and great honor for me are to be a member of such a well-known organization as Leaders Excellence with its headquarters in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and to be a reviewer in the world's largest IEEE community.
IEEE is an international association of specialists in the field of technology, a world leader in the standard development of radio electronics, electrical engineering, and hardware for computer systems and networks.
Leaders Excellence is an exclusive club of leaders where they get accepted only if their merits correspond to the merits of the current club's members. There are only 1,500 leaders from 50 countries in the club, and you can meet really outstanding and advanced people of our time among them - Amine Ayad (Senior Director of Strategy, Walmart), Vikram Gupta (Digital Operations and Supply Chain, Ernst & Young) and others. And I am very pleased to realize that my contribution to the profession was recognized at such a high level.
The list of your achievements is impressive, only a few IT specialists succeeded to achieve similar results. What are your next steps? Do you plan to keep on developing in your niche or do you have other plans?
A real specialist and a fan of his/her profession do not stop learning during their entire life. I devote a lot of time to my self-development and I will continue to study all my life, mastering all possible aspects of the IT field and its connection with other areas. For example, my wife is a doctor, perhaps we will create new technologies in genetics or bionic prostheses together.
I also plan to participate in conferences, improving my experience in both presentations and in practical skills, and applying new technologies, which my colleagues will demonstrate at these symposiums.
I also believe that in order to become better in my professional sphere, you need to develop personal qualities that will help in creating a friendly and effective team. There is no comparison with the feeling when you go to work as if it were a holiday.
Mutual experience exchange with large IT companies helps contribute to the development. I am always curious to know the opinion of my colleagues, I listen to them attentively, and I always try to find out in tiny detail the way they work: why it is like this, and not on the contrary, what exactly they like about this particular technology. At the same time, I am open to sharing my own experience, so it is always a productive exchange of knowledge. That is why I would like to continue participating in the life of the IT community in the future.
