It appears as if Apple will be using the same color choices in its latest iPads that it offers in the iPhone 5s and an image of a gold iPad mini 2 with Touch ID has leaked.
Apple decided to add a new color option to its flagship iPhone 5s this year. Instead of offering the smartphone in two colors, something it has been doing since the release of the iPhone 3G in 2008, the company decided to add a third color, and its choice was gold. The new gold color is more of a subtle champagne color than the color you're used to seeing in jewelry. The company has seen high demand for the gold iPhone 5s and it looks like it will be bringing the same three colors to its upcoming iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 with Retina Display.
A leaked image of what is claimed to be the iPad mini 2, shows the tablet will be offered in gold just like the iPhone 5s. The images were posted on a Chinese website, showing the new gold iPad mini will also share the look and Touch ID feature of the gold iPhone 5s. One image clearly shows the iPad mini 2's chamfered edges are gold along with a gold back, and the slate features Apple's Touch ID fingerprint scanner the company introduced with the launch of the iPhone 5s. Recent images were leaked showing that the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 will also adopt the "Space Grey" and silver color options the company introduced with the iPhone 5s.
Apple is expected to hold an iPad event sometime in October, where it is likely to officially announce the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 with Retina Display. The iPad 5 will keep its 9.7-inch display, but will take design cues from the iPad mini, which will allow the tablet to be significantly smaller than its predecessor by using narrow side bezels, a more rounded and flat back shell, and a rumored thinner IGZO display.
Take these images with a grain of salt, as the closer we get to a lunch date, the more we get inundated with images claiming to be Apple's next device.
