Elden Ring Mod Lets You Fight Pokemon in the Lands Between

Elden Ring players can now be the Pokemon Master of The Lands Between.

A modder recently released a mod for Elden Ring that replaces the game's bosses and enemies with Pokemon similar to their function and form.

The Pokemon used in this mod came from the recently released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet game.

Elden Ring X Pokemon Scarlet Mod Details

A modder going by the Twitter handle of Arestame uploaded a trailer of a mod featuring Pokemon from the Paldea region replacing enemies, bosses, and even creatures in The Lands Between.

According to a Game Rant report, players can encounter and battle against everything from popular Normal-type Pokemon like Lechonk to Skeledirge, Fuecoco's final Fire/Ghost-type Pokemon evolution.

That's not all, either. Game Informer noted in their article that the mod replaced the mounts Tarnished use with the Pokemon Koraidon to get around The Lands Between quickly, much like it does in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Interestingly, the Tarnished themselves were not spared from the mod's influence, with them wearing clothing fit for an ambitious Pokemon trainer instead of the armor commonly found in The Lands Between.

Even Melina, the guide every Elden Ring player is familiar with, is wearing the same clothing to improve the immersion payers want for this new mod.

Unfortunately, the mod doesn't remove the harshness of the creatures of The Lands Between, as evidenced by one particular Pokemon ambush thanks to Meowscarada, per Comicbook Gaming.

Despite that, there is some reprieve from the tension normally found in FromSoftware's games. The mod added Pokemon Centers on top of Elden Ring's walking mausoleums.

Though what could be inside these Pokemon Centers is anybody's guess, we sure hope there's a gym leader to go up against in there.

The skins the mod uses to replace Elden Ring's creatures are as clear and detailed as the ones they were swapped with. As such, they are remarkable to look at; some say they are even better than what developer Game Freak has for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

You may remember that the game was heavily criticized for its poor graphical and performance issues, such as extremely low frame rates, pop-in bugs, clipping issues, and even the occasional game crashes.

The issues were so bad that Metacritic users gave the game a 3.2 user score based on 2,830 ratings - a slight increase from late November's 2.9 user score rating.

What Is Nintendo's Reaction?

Nintendo is known for aggressively protecting its IP, with the company serving takedown notices to Let's Play videos and even the scans of a commercially dead 1996 Super Mario 64 guide.

With such a stance to assert its copyright to the IP it has under its repertoire, the company will likely have Arestame remove the mod anytime soon.

Whether Nintendo's belligerence in protecting its IP is the reason why the Elden Ring mod is unavailable to be downloaded and enjoyed is still up for debate.
