L'Oréal will be announcing two new beauty tech gadgets for this year's Consumer Electronics Show. The gadgets that will be put in the spotlight are Brow Magic, which helps with drawing the perfect brow, and HAPTA, a lipstick applicator.
Brow Magic
The makeup gadget uses AR to create the perfect brow for its users through the Brow Magic app. The device was developed with Prinker, which is a gadget that prints a temporary tattoo on your skin using pre-made or custom designs.
The Brow Magic app functions like a Snapchat filter by using The device's app uses L'Oréal's Modiface AR technology. It will scan your face and apply a brow filter so you can see which look you want. You can view different shapes, thicknesses, and effects, as mentioned in The Verge.
The printing technology has 2,400 small nozzles that can apply a printing resolution of 1,200 drops per inch. It is an easier and more convenient way for applying temporarily tattooed brows compared to what is more widely practiced.
The effects include similar appearances to microblading and microshading. Once you decide on what look you want, apply a primer through your brows and simply swipe the printer. You can apply a top coat finish so the temporary brow tattoo stays on longer.
You won't need to worry about making a mistake since you can easily remove the Brow Magic tattoo using makeup remover or soap and water. After that, you can just repeat the process as many times as you'd like.
HAPTA
HAPTA is a smart lipstick applicator that can assist people with limited mobility. It has stabilization tech that is used for devices that help people with tremors with activities they'll have a hard time doing without.
According to PR Newswire, around 50 million people have issues with mobility, which can affect daily tasks like applying makeup. HAPTA is a handheld device that has built-in smart motion controls with customizable attachments.
It is also ultra-precise so users won't have trouble applying the lipstick on their lips. It improves the user's range of motion and assists in makeup applications that would be hard to achieve, making for a more inclusive device for those with limited abilities.
HAPTA has a magnetic attachment that makes it easy to use, along with 360 degrees of rotation and 180 degrees of flexion. Its built-in battery can last up to approximately ten applications or one hour of use. The device is rechargeable, which will take three hours for a full battery.
Barbara Lavernosm the Deputy CEO of L'Oréal's Research, Innovation and Technology department, expressed that inclusivity is at the heart of the company's innovation and beauty tech strategy.
Françoise Lehmann, President of the L'Oréal-owned Lancôme, said that HAPTA allows the company to go one step further to making beauty more accessible to use, because everyone should have equal access to it.
