A new ad for the Galaxy Gear has just emerged from Samsung and many are claiming it is a copy of Apple's original iPhone ad.
Samsung does not mind letting the world know that it gets inspiration from its biggest rival, Apple. The iMaker famously sued Samsung and was awarded a judgment when a jury found Samsung guilty of patent infringement. The company's designs were too similar to Apple's iPhone and iPad. Samsung is now starting to take heat for a new ad it released for its new Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The company is facing criticism for releasing a commercial that is very similar to Apple's first commercial for the original iPhone.
Samsung takes us back through time by showing us television shows, cartoons, and movies where a smartwatch-like device has been used. We see classic television shows such as Star Trek, cartoons such as Dick Tracy, and more reminding us of how futuristic a smartwatch used to be and thanks to Samsung's Galaxy Gear, the world will not have to wait for the future any longer.
The Galaxy Gear features a 1.63-inch 320 x 320 Super AMOLED display and runs a modified version of Android 4.3. It uses a single-core 800MHz Exynos processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It has a 1.9-megapixel camera with autofocus built into its strap and is capable of recording full HD video. It includes NFC, Bluetooth 4.3 LE, gyroscope, pedometer, and accelerometer. It is packing a 315 mAh battery that Samsung says will provide enough power to last a full day of "regular use." The Galaxy Gear uses Samsung's S Voice to allow users to issue voice commands to the smartwatch to create new alarms, dictate new messages, initiate phone calls, and more.
The Galaxy Gear just launched alongside the Galaxy Note 3, the only smartphone currently compatible with the smartwatch. The device has received mixed reviews and Samsung is reportedly working on its successor already. Check out both ads below and judge for yourself whether Samsung copied Apple or not.
