Microsoft, OpenAI Work In Integrating Faster ChatGPT Into Bing

In the upcoming weeks, Microsoft is apparently planning on incorporating GPT-4, a quicker iteration of OpenAI's ChatGPT, into Bing.

According to Semafor, by employing GPT-4 to respond to search requests, Bing will be able to compete with Google more effectively.

The Partnership Makes Internet Search Competition Competitive

A key distinction between ChatGPT and GPT-4, with the latter being quicker to react to queries and giving more thorough and human-like responses.

If everything goes according to plan, the development will lead to increased competition in internet search, a market that Google largely controls.

OpenAI intends to release a ChatGPT app for mobile devices and test a new function in their Dall-E image-generating program that would use artificial intelligence to produce films.

The technology that supports ChatGPT is called GPT, or "Generative Pre-Trained Transformer," and it is distinguished by its capacity to sift through a large dataset.

On January 3, Microsoft announced its intentions to leverage the core technology of OpenAI, stating that it wanted to recoup its $1 billion investment.

It can be remembered that Microsoft declared in May 2020 that it has created "one of the top five publicly reported supercomputers in the world" specifically for OpenAI.

The company claimed that extraordinarily big artificial intelligence models would be trained on this supercomputer, Interesting Engineering notes.

According to a blog post by the company, Microsoft just last week expanded its collaboration with OpenAI with a "multi-year, multi-billion-dollar" investment.

"We formed our partnership with OpenAI around a shared ambition to responsibly advance cutting-edge AI research and democratize AI as a new technology platform," Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, says.

The CEO adds that developers and organizations from many sectors will have access to the best AI infrastructure, models, and toolchain with Azure in this next phase of the relationship to create and execute their apps.

The Move Furthers The Commercialization Of AI Technologies

According to Microsoft, the partnership would allow each company to separately commercialize the ensuing cutting-edge AI technologies.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI even says that the past three years of partnering with Microsoft in bringing AI technology to search engines have been great.

"Microsoft shares our values, and we are excited to continue our independent research and work toward creating advanced AI that benefits everyone." Altman claims.

Although the addition of GPT-4 to Bing would put Google's existing hold on the internet search market in trouble, Microsoft is rumored to have stated that it will not introduce a ChatGPT rival.

Additionally, it has been claimed that Google officials told staff members that they do not believe chatbots are ready to take the position of search, Interesting Engineering details.

However, because each ChatGPT search costs a little bit, it is expensive to run these algorithms, which comb through billions of text pages.

Some businesses have had trouble acquiring Nvidia's most recent graphics processor, the H100 Tensor Core GPU, according to Semafor.

This is specifically intended to operate "transformers" like those used in GPT, due to the hurry to cash in on the generative AI boom that OpenAI and Microsoft initiated.

A large part of developing OpenAI will be figuring out how to run it more rapidly and more affordably, which demonstrates how crucial server-side advancements will be to AI products when they become available.

Furthermore, since OpenAI made its products available to the general public, it has received priceless real-world feedback that will help it keep its products one step ahead of rivals.
