Horror films are usually a hit or miss. It's either they are horrifying enough to be remembered or they just didn't terrify audiences enough to be significant. Blumhouse Productions have certainly proven themselves in the horror genre.

The production has famous titles like "Paranormal Activity," "Get Out," "The Purge," and "M3GAN." Seeing as they have seen success in their films, it could be a could investment to apply their resources to making something that can be playable.

The new division will share the original name, Blumhouse Games. According to The Verge, it will focus on original horror-themed games for console, PC, as well as mobile audiences. Blumhouse will play the role of publisher with a $10 million or lower budget for each project.

Zach Wood, an already experienced video game producer, will serve as Blumhouse Games' president. Wood stated that there is a unique opportunity for the horror genre in the indie game space and is thrilled to team up with Blumhouse.

Along with Wood, the company has also hired Don Sechler as the game division's CFO, who was a former executive at PlayStation. He headed finance as well as operations strategy, as mentioned in Variety.

Blumhouse Games intends to collaborate with independent game developers to create horror-themed games. With 150 titles under its belt, there's a lot of experience that can be used to spawn horror games that may even be related to its produced movies.

The company has been looking into building a team that can start accessing the "growth opportunity in interactive media" for a while, according to Blumhouse President Abhijay Prakash.

Prakash pointed out that with Woof and Sechler's experience, sensibility, and knowledge about the gaming marketplace, both are ideal leaders to " leverage Blumhouse's unique genre strengths into gaming."
