Netflix managed to get 16 nominations, and more impressively won six of them in the 95th Academy Awards. Among the films that got Netflix a win is "All Quiet on the Western Front" as well as "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio."
Netflix's Wins
With the direction of Edward Berger, "All Quiet on the Western Front" won four Oscars in total, which is out of nine nominations. It has won in categories such as international feature film, cinematography, original score, and production design.
Other than that, it has also won several awards in the UK's BAFTA Awards with seven wins, which includes best film, director, adapted screenplay, cinematography, sound, original score, and non-English language film, according to Variety.
The film, starring Felix Kammerer, is an anti-war film that was adapted from a novel with the same title. It revolves around the realities of war and the realizations of a young soldier on the front lines after he enlists in the German army.
"Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" also won in the stop-motion category with other nominations like "The Sea Beast," which is also from Netflix, "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On," "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish," and "Turning Red."
Netflix's "The Elephant Whisperers" has also won in the documentary short film category, which is about an indigenous couple named Bomman and Bellie in South India. The movie follows the heartwarming story of how they take care of an orphaned elephant named Raghu.
Netflix's Nominations
Netflix's "All Quiet on the Western Front" managed to win four nominations out of nine. The remaining five they didn't win were for best picture, sound design, adapted screenplay, makeup and hairstyling, and visual effects, as seen in What's On Netflix.
The award for Best Picture went to "Everything Everywhere All at Once." For visual effects, "Avatar: The Way of Water" took home the win, and "Women Talking" won the best adapted screenplay category. Best makeup and hairstyling was awarded to "The Whale."
"Blonde," which was the biographical movie about the life of the icon Marilyn Monroe was nominated for Ana de Armas' performance. However, the award for best actress in a leading role went to Michelle Yeoh for "Everything Everywhere All at Once."
Netflix had two films in the adapted screenplay category which are "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" and "All Quiet on the Western Front," but as mentioned before, Sarah Polley's "Women Talking" won the award, also beating "Top Gun: Maverick."

Previous Netflix Oscars Wins
Back in the 2021 Oscars Awards, Netflix won in the best animated short film category for "If Anything Happens I Love You." The streaming service also won in the makeup and hairstyling category as well as costume design for "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom."
Other wins include one for production design and cinematography for the movie "Mank," and the best documentary feature and live-action short film for "My Octopus Teacher" and "Two Distant Strangers." respectively.
2020 saw Netflix win two Oscars, which is in the category of best documentary feature for the movie "American Factory," and best performance in a supporting role for Laura Dern in "Marriage Story."
