As you buy new devices or electronic components, the old ones tend to pile up, and although there are many ways in which you can recycle those, there are other creative methods you can try out just to see how artistic you can be. Here are some suggestions on how you can recycle old electronic components.
Circuit Board Lamps
Some circuit boards are fairly thin, just enough so light can escape them and show a calming green hue. It's even simple enough that having no crafting experience won't get in your way. All you have to do is glue each corner using hot glue, and add in a light source whether it's wired or battery-powered.
Steampunk Mask
Whether it's for a costume or you want to hang it on your wall, you can create a steampunk mask using old computer components. Of course, you'll need a base mask for it, and some spray paint to make it look realistically metal.
You can attach the components in particular patterns all over the mask, and even attach an old ridged hose pipe to make it look like a breathing mask. Once the glue sets, you can spray paint it with a metallic bronze color to give it a more steampunk look.
Architectural Sculptures
It's hard to find a sculpture of a futuristic-looking city anywhere. If you want one for yourself and have a couple of old computer parts, you might just be able to make one. All you need apart from the electronic junk is a baseboard to place all your computer parts in. Then, your imagination is your limit in creating your miniature utopia.
Toy Robots
This particular project is something you could do in your spare time to unwind. Some people find comfort in tinkering and creating little robots from spare or old parts might just turn into a hobby. For instance, the photo shows the sculpture of a humanoid robot from This Is Colossal, which looks like a robot you could build made from scrap.
Floppy Disk Pots
It's almost impossible to see a floppy disk in a household since they have been phased out for years now. But if you do come across some, you can repurpose them into little plant pots. You'll need five to build a crate-like structure, and you can even write on the sticker to indicate what kind of plant it is.
TV/Monitor Fish Tank
Monitors and TVs weren't always flat. There was a time when they were rather bulky and had a lot of space inside them. Well, that space can be used for something else, like a new habitat for your pet fish.
You will have to reinforce the insides and apply lots of silicone to make sure there are no leaks. Of course, there are many ways to make sure it can hold water and it's up to you how you want to build it. Still, it looks cool to see your fish float about on a TV or monitor screen.
