Apple Announced That WWDC 2023 Will Be from June 5th to 9th

Apple has been hosting Worldwide Developers Conferences since the early '80s. Just as the company did from 2020 to 2022, this year's WWDC will take place between June 5th to June 9th, and will mainly be held online.

Apple's annual conference, although mostly an online event, will provide an opportunity for developers to have an in-person experience on the Apple Park campus on the first day. WWDC will mainly introduce Apple's latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

There will be sessions and labs dedicated to developers to help them create innovative apps, learn more about new technologies and tools that will be announced at the WWDC23 and have unique access to Apple's engineers.

Those who will attend the event can watch the Apple Design Awards, the keynote, State of the Union videos, and meet the employees of the company. Most can join the online global community, while in-person attendance is limited.

Apple Developer Program members, Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumni, previous Swift Student Challenge winners, and Apple Developer Enterprise Program members can submit a request to attend the event on the Apple Park campus, according to MacRumors.

Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott expressed that WWDC is an opportunity to connect with talented developers from around the world. She added that the WWDC23 will be the "biggest and most exciting yet."

The event is also a chance for Apple to support student developers of all ages who love to code, which the company will do through a program called Swift Student Challenge. There is also an app called Swift Playgrounds with the same goals.

This year's Swift Student Challenge is open; students can submit their work by April 19th. The student should be 13 years old or older in the US, and 16 years old and above in the EU. They should also be registered as an Apple developer.

What to Expect

The event will likely show Apple's latest Mac Pro and the 15-inch MacBook Air. They could also be announcing new features that come with iOS 17, along with other Apple device operating systems and hardware announcements.

However, the biggest announcement, although still unconfirmed, might be Apple's AR/VR headset, which the company has been working on for quite some time, and could compete with already existing AR goggles like the Meta Quest 2 and PSVR 2.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the most trusted source for Apple-related rumors, believes that Apple will reveal its AR/VR headset this June at the WWDC event. However, reports say that the Apple design team does not believe that the device is ready.

The device was said to be demonstrated to the company's top executives by the Apple Technology Group, the department responsible for the AR/VR project. According to Tom's guide, the device might be named "Reality One."

One of the many issues that could come with the headset is its price tag, which is rumored to be $3,000. Along with that, there's also the issue of the battery life, design, and the limited number of apps that are compatible with it at launch.
