Games on Facebook Messenger have been around for a while, and you can even play some of them with your Facebook friends. The company just released a new feature wherein you and your social media friends can play said games during a video call.
Video Calls and Games
The new features make it easier for users to play games with loved ones on Messenger through an ongoing video call. Players can interact with each other and converse, making it seem like you're playing the game with each other in real life.
As of right now, there are 14 games available on Messenger for free, which can be accessed through iOS and Android devices, as well as the web. Facebook Gaming claims that they are working on bringing more free games to the platform this 2023.
In order to play, all you have to do is start a video call on Messenger, tap the group mode button in the center, and then press the "Play" icon. You can then choose from various titles such as Card Wars by Bombay Play, Words with Friends by Zynga, or Exploding Kittens by Coatsink.
Some titles are limited to two players only, while others can accommodate more. The gaming experience is optimized for Messenger wherein the UI interacts well with the games. There's also a leaderboard to know which one among your friends has the highest scores.
According to Engadget, Messenger has been experimenting with games a user can play on Messenger for the past few years, although it hasn't brought good results for the company. Despite that, the company is interested in partnering with developers via its Partner Manager.
With the program, developers of games outside Messenger can reach out to integrate the video call gaming feature into their games. This is likely part of Facebook Messenger's efforts to add more titles to the library.

Words with Friends
Words with Friend is a fun word game that will let you play with your friend in a battle of wits. Much like Scrabble, you will place letter tiles to form words that link with the previously placed letter tiles. This is available for Facebook Messenger's latest feature.
8 Ball Pool
Challenge you friends to a game of virtual pool through the 8 Brall Pool game within the app. The most popular pool game among them is the one from Miniclip, where you can also purchase premium cues for better force, aim, and spin, as mentioned in iTech Fever.
Daily Sudoku
This one-player game is similar to the ones you would usually find in a newspaper. The game is available on Messenger games, although you can only play by yourself, as the game is designed. You can choose difficulty levels such as easy, intermediate, and hard.
Basketball FRVR
The game serves as a casual way to pass time as you try to score points by shooting the ball continuously without missing the basket to set a record. Although it looks simple enough, you'll find that it's actually not that simple to have consecutive successful shots.
