Dead Island 2 might require a monster of a PC to run properly.
Deep Silver recently revealed the PC specifications Dead Island 2 needs to run properly, allowing gamers who wish to play the game to buy what they need before it releases.
Deep Island scheduled Dead Island 2's official release on Apr. 21 for the PC, PlayStations 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Series X|S.
Dead Island 2 System Requirements Details
Gamers who are fans of the Dead Island series and are patiently waiting for the numbered entry to the series could either rejoice that they could run Dead Island 2 or cry in despair.
Deep Silver mentioned in its recent announcement that Dead Island 2 requires at least a Windows 10 OS and 70GB of free space to run the game as intended. However, the hardware requirements changes depending on how well gamers want the game to perform.
The company mentioned that gamers would need the following hardware at the minimum to run the game at 1080p at 30fps:
- CPU: AMD FX-9590 or Intel Core i7-7700HQ
- Memory: 10GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 480 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
Meanwhile, those who wish to run the game properly at 1080p at 60fps may want to get the following hardware, which is the game's recommended PC specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i9 9900K
- Memory: 16GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
Those who wish to see Dead Island 2 at its best may want to invest more in their PC's hardware if they haven't done so already. For gamers to run the game at 1440p at 60fps, they'll need the following hardware to do so:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or Intel Core i5-15600KF
- Memory: 16GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6750XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
Last but not least, gamers who want to experience Dead Island 2 at its absolute best would need to have the following hardware to run the game at 4K at 60fps:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel Core i7-13700K
- Memory: 16GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090
Dead Island 2 Additional Details
Aside from the system requirements Dead Island 2 needs, Deep Silver added a bunch of information for gamers to consider before buying the game. The most important of these is that the game doesn't support cross-play despite having a three-player online multiplayer mode.
However, that doesn't mean that cross-gen isn't available; it is. Those playing the game on last-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One can play with those with current-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, per VG247.
Unfortunately, those playing Dead Island 2 with last-gen consoles will have to settle to see the game run at 30fps, while current-gen gamers get to experience the game at 60fps.
Those playing with a keyboard and mouse on game consoles may want to store them when playing Dead Island 2 because it doesn't support that control scheme on those platforms. Meanwhile, PC gamers who wish to use last-gen and current-gen controllers like the DualSense and DualShock 4 may do so.
