When Google announced its launch partners for the Nexus 5, Sprint was a surprising choice. Best Buy has now made the Sprint Nexus 5 available for pre-order for $149.99.
The Nexus 5 is Google's latest flagship smartphone. It's also the first device to ship with the latest version of Android, Android 4.4 KitKat. The new OS offers users a slightly updated user interface and increases performance while also providing improved battery life. Just like with the Nexus 4, Google has partnered with LG to build the Nexus 5.
The new Nexus smartphone offers solid improvements across the board when compared to the Nexus 4. Users will now have a larger 5-inch 1080p Full HD display. The camera has been upgraded to an 8-megapixel sensor that also includes optical image stabilization (OIS), ensuring that you always capture the best image on the first try.
The Sprint Nexus 5 features a 4.95-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display with a pixel density of 445 pixels-per-inch (ppi) and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone is powered by a top-of-the-line 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 2GB of RAM.
The Nexus 5 ships with a high-end 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and improved HDR+ mode, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and the ability to record 30FPS 1080p video. The smartphone's wireless capabilities include a 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/nc, Bluetooth 4.0 with Bluetooth 4.0 LE abilities, NFC, and GPS. The Nexus 5 comes with 16GB of internal storage and uses a 2,300mAh battery, which will provide up to 13 hours of talk time. The handset supports wireless charging out of the box, allowing you to place it on a compatible charger and just let it charge, without having to plug a cable into the device. Its measurements are 69.17mm wide, 137.84mm tall, and 8.59mm thick and weighs in at 130g.
Best Buy is now accepting pre-orders for the black and white Sprint Nexus 5 for $149.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. The smartphone is expected to ship on Nov. 8, the same day Sprint will begin selling the smartphone online and in its retail stores.
