Elon Musk has found his replacement as Twitter's CEO.
The Chief Twit recently mentioned he had hired a new CEO for Twitter and that he is now working on transitioning from his post as the company CEO to its CTO, or Chief Technology Officer.
Musk previously asked Twitter users in late Dec. 2022 if he should resign as Twitter's CEO through a Twitter poll. 57% of the 17.5 million voters told him that he should resign from his post.
Twitter New CEO Identity
Musk didn't mention much about the identity of his replacement as Twitter's CEO in his tweet. What he did say, however, was that "she will be starting [at round] six weeks."
Identity politics aside, many of those who are trying to guess the identity of the new Twitter CEO believes that Twitter's new CEO would be tech journalist Kara Swisher, who, according to Business Insider, laid out her case and observations in a Twitter thread.
Meanwhile, some theorize that NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino could be the new Twitter CEO - a theory that has a strong possibility to be true. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that sources familiar with the matter revealed that Yaccarino was "in talks" to take the job., though an NBCUniversal spokesperson said that she was preparing for the Upfronts, an event where media companies pitch advertisers.
Bloomberg mentioned they emailed Yaccarino for a comment on her potential posting but have yet to receive a response from her since.
Other potential (and equally popular) names within the tech industry, such as former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki and former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, also appeared in talks between Twitter users and Twitter staff members, per Reuters.
However, it seems that Musk wants to remain mum on his pick on who will succeed him as Twitter's CEO; we'll probably only know who will be replacing Musk as Twitter's head around June 23, the exact date when he officially steps down from his role while his successor officially takes his place.
In the meantime, Musk will start transitioning from being Twitter's CEO to its CTO, where he'd oversee the company's product, software, and system operator.
A Cause For Celebration
Musk is not the only one who's excited about his stepping down as Twitter's CEO; he previously mentioned he didn't want to be the CEO of any company in a court hearing.
Tesla's shareholders previously mentioned that they want to have Musk return his attention to running his EV automaking company to have him focus on the company's issues instead, per CNN. These issues include allegations of a toxic work environment.
With him stepping down as Twitter's CEO, he could probably focus his attention on helping Tesla address its issues and grow as a company.
Tesla aside, it is unclear what the consequences of Musk's stepping down as CEO could be. He did say that he would only stay as Twitter's CEO until he was sure that Twitter would be "in a stable condition."
