The Microsoft Store has cut the price of the unlocked HTC 8X Windows Phone from $499 to $249.
While Nokia's Lumia smartphones are the most successful WP8 handsets, HTC's 8X has also been a popular choice for Windows Phone fans looking for a device with a quality audio experience. In fact, many consider the HTC 8X to be the best Windows Phone smartphone for audiophiles, thanks to HTC including Beats Audio. The handset boasts a built-in amplifier, which allows the device to pump out more power to headphones and its speakers.
HTC has also focused on the 8X's cameras. It uses an 8-megapixel rear camera with features such as f/2.0 28mm lens plus smart LED flash, which allows users to capture great photos even in low-light conditions. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, uses an 88-degree ultra-wide-angle viewing field, which allows the 8X to easily fit more people into a shot when you're taking a picture of yourself with friends.
If you've been thinking about checking out the Windows Phone platform, the Microsoft Store is now selling the unlocked HTC 8X through its online store for $249 instead of $499. The smartphone will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile's networks. The HTC 8X is also upgradable to the latest version of Windows Phone 8 Update 3.
The HTC 8X features a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 Super LCD 2 Gorilla Glass 2 display and runs Windows Phone 8, which you'll be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 8 Update 3 OTA (over-the-air). It's powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an Adreno 225 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 1GB of RAM to provide a fluid interface. The handset comes with 16GB of internal storage (no microSD expansion slot).
It's packing an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens, ability to record 1080p Full HD video @ 30fps and also has a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera for video chat. Both cameras use HTC's dedicated ImageChip. Its wireless capabilities include a 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and EDR, NFC, FM radio and GPS. The smartphone also has Beats Audio built-in and uses a non-removable 1,800 mAh battery.
You can purchase the unlocked HTC 8X from the Microsoft Store for $249.00, which also includes free shipping.
