Remember Tesla's presentations of its humanoid robots last year? You might recall that it wasn't that impressive considering that it couldn't really do much. This year, however, Tesla shows that there have indeed been improvements on the project.
Given the trajectory and pace of progress with the advancement of the Tesla robots, we may see significant upgrades soon enough, and Musk's prediction of most homes having humanoid robots in the future may very well come true.
Really, it's starting to look like the 2004 movie "I, Robot" starring Will Smith is taking shape, which emphasizes yet again the dangers of the progression of AI in the economy, the takeover of jobs, and the far-fetched AI domination.

What the Future Holds
According to Musk, it's likely that a humanoid robot can be found in households by 2050, which means that they still have more than two decades to improve on its robot project to the point that it can act as an actual human assistant.
The robots will first be used to do jobs that are dangerous for humans or are too boring such as clerical jobs. Once it has become more advanced, it will start looking after people by doing chores such as cooking, mowing the lawn, and more, as mentioned in Interesting Engineering.
One of the obstacles that manufacturers will face in the beginning would be the cost, as the materials and the process itself will produce a price tag with many zeroes. However, Musk believes that manufacturing will catch up and costs will eventually decrease.
With ideas like that floating around and slowly becoming a reality, the Tesla CEO warned of a scenario where AI can become dangerous and even thinks that there should be a regulatory agency solely for AI.
