HoYoverse is a game developer well versed in creating and publishing quality games, but they don't get everything right on the first go.
You may remember that the company is famous for listening to its playbase and adding improvements to mke their games run and play better than before. The company's reponse to the backlash to Genshin Impact's anniversary rewards is one of the more recent examples of their willingness to listen to fans.
As a result of these reponses, the developer was able to add certain improvements to their latest game, Honkai Star Rail, that originally came from user feedback from its other games.
Here are some of those improvements:
Team Setup Shortcut On UI
Players of Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd may remember how tedious it is to change team members during gameplay. The former game's players have to open the menu first before getting access to the team setup menu, while the latter game's players have to quit gameplay to return to the team selection screen.
Thanks to the improvements HoYoverse implemented early on in the game's development of Honkai Star Rail, players can now access the team setup menu anytime they want by clicking on the corresponding icon at the top-right corner of the screen. Additionally, they can do so before engaging an enemy in combat, even when they're investigating you.
Easily Accessible Daily Commissions & Rewards
Daily commissions are HoYoverse game players' main source of premium currency to trade for items to use in their gacha. In Honkai Star Rail, players only need to click on the correct icon located at the top-right corner of the screen to access the commissions they need to do and redeem the rewards for doing so.
This ease of access is not present in Genshin Impact, which has players go to Katheryne to redeem the rewards for completing all four commissions (though you'll automatically get the rewards for completed commissions).
Honkai Impact 3rd has players move through various menus to access the right one and acquire their rewards for accomplishing their commissions. However, there is a good reason for this inconvenience: the game is a linear and contained experience rather than an open-world one, which limits what players can access during gameplay.
More Accessible Calyxes/Domains
Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail players who wish to do their daily farming/grind for materials would first need to unlock the domain/calyx of their choosing to do so. While both games have a menu that details which calyxes/domains have a certain item, the difference between the two lies in how to get there.
Genshin Impact has players access the map and teleport to the domain of their choosing, while Honkai Star Rail players have to access a menu and select teleport. They could access the calyx of their choosing through the map, but teleporting to them through a dedicated menu is easier than memorizing which area of the map a certain calyx is.
Easier Farming
Alongside more accessible Calyxes for farming is the removal of scheduled items in specific domains. In Genshin Impact, HoYoverse made certain items only available on specific days to consolidate the number of domains present in-game for player convenience.
Unfortunately, this solution only made other items less accessible for farming until Sunday comes, when all items are available for farming.
HoYoverse does away with this scheme in Honkai Star Rail, allowing players to farm for the items they want anytime on any day for as long as their Trailblaze Power lasts.
Treasure Chest Count
Genshin Impact players who saw the game's release would remember how difficult it was to track down and find treasure chests, which not only contain in-game currency and items, but also small amounts of premium currency. As such, many of them resorted to interactive maps and good old-fashioned exploring to discover and open them one by one.
While HoYoverse tallies players' opened chests by the exploration percentage seen on the in-game map and added a new compass to help players find chests, the same is not quite true with Honkai Star Rail. HoYoverse now specifics how many treasure chests are present on a map and how many are already opened. This convenience allows players to pinpoint which places on the map are likely to contain treasure chests or puzzles that lead to them.
