Disney will soon release quite a treat for "Star Wars" fans.
The media conglomerate recently announced it is releasing its Star Wars spinoff, "Ahsoka," on Disney+ in late August, allowing fans to learn more about her story after the events of the original trilogy.
George Lucas first introduced Ahsoka Tano during the 2008 animated film "Star Wars: The Clone Wars;" she is also heavily featured in the animated TV series of the same name.
Ahsoka TV Series Release Details, Features
Star Wars fans worldwide were thrilled to see Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, appearing in two Disney spinoff series: "Star Wars: Rebels," and "The Mandalorian." However, the former had already ended, while her appearance in the latter stopped during its second season.
While she also appeared in the sixth chapter of "The Book of Boba Fett," it wasn't enough to expand her character more to the fans; Disney has since decided to feature Ahsoka's adventures in her own spinoff TV series named after her.
According to a report from Space.com, Disney scheduled the TV series' debut on Aug. 23, announcing it through its various social media pages. This announcement allowed Star Wars fans to mark their calendars and begin the countdown to the airing of the series' first episode. The series will focus on Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano and is set five years after "The Return of the Jedi," just like The Mandalorian TV show, where Dawson first depicted Ahsoka.
The series will show feature Ahsoka's journey to find a young Jedi named Ezrta Bridger, a prominent character in Star Wars: Rebels, who became lost in space following a battle against Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn, who Ahsoka is also tracking down in the series.
Additionally, Darth Vader will also appear in the series as one of its antagonists, thanks to Hayden Christensen, the actor who played the adult Anakin Skywalker in the Prequel Trilogy, signing up for the role once again, per Esquire.
Since the series happens after the events of Return of the Jedi, Anakin/Vader may appear in flashback sequences or as a Force Ghost. Ahsoka will also meet up with old friends from Rebels, including the Mandalorian Sabine Wren, Ghost's starpilot Hera Syndulla, and a live-action Chopper.
The late Ray Stevenson will also appear in the series as Jedi Baylan Skoll, one of the survivors of Operation Knightfall, more commonly known as Order 66 or The Great Jedi Purge.
Ahsoka Production Team Details
The live-action Ahsoka TV Series will be led by Star Wars veteran Dave Filoni, who will act as the series' lead writer and executive producer beside co-executive producers Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Carrie Beck, and Karen Gilchrist.
Filoni revealed at the recent Star Wars Celebration event that Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Patel, and Rick Famiyuwa - executive produce of The Mandalorian - will be joining him in directing the TV series, per Rotten Tomatoes. IMDb mentioned on its webpage for the series that all of them, including Filoni, had allegedly directed one episode each in the series.
Kevin Kinner, who worked on the music of The Clone Wars, Rebels, and "The Bad Batch," is also on board the production team as its musical composer, per Variety.
