Twitter is Being Evicted from Another Office Building Over Unpaid Rent

With more news people read about Twitter, the more convinced they are that its downward trajectory will not stop any time soon. On top of other payments that Twitter refuses to take care of, you can add unpaid rent from its Boulder, Colorado office to the list.

Twitter Loses Another Office

The situation has gotten to the point where it became a legal matter between the company and the landlord, leading to a judge deciding that Twitter is to be evicted from the Boulder office. The company owes three months of rent, which amounts to around $75,000.

Twitter used to have a letter of credit worth $968,000 back in 2020, which meant that they did not have to worry about paying rent for a while. However, that has since run out and Twitter has not made additional payments yet, as reported by Engadget.

Approximately 300 employees used to occupy the office space, which had gone down to 150 since Twitter's mass layoffs as well as resignations. It's still unclear what would happen to the employees in the office, with the company given until July to pack their bags and go.

The landlord of the Colorado office was not the only one being stiffed, with reports saying that Twitter also hasn't paid a local cleaning company for the services it has provided, which amounts to around $100,000 worth.

Sadly, the situation is not at all surprising anymore. The same has happened with Twitter's San Francisco, California headquarters. With an even bigger rent due, the company owes $136,250, with staff members being instructed to halt payments to contractors.

Two other landlords also sued the company back in late January 2023, one of which was the UK's Crown Estate for not paying the property near Piccadilly Circus's rent, which was where Twitter operated in London, according to Gizmodo.

Is It a Sign of Twitter's Downfall?

We can't really know for sure what the situation with Twitter is or if Elon Musk has some grand scheme that would restore Twitter's former glory, but at face value, the company looks like it's beginning to crumble to the point of no return.

As the company faces difficulties with its moderation in content, its problems may get worse as it cuts ties with Google Cloud services. In addition to the company's failure to pay rent, it is also refusing to pay for its contract with Google.

The renewal is due this June 30th, but instead of paying, the company is scrambling to shift its services off Google before the contract expires. Reports say that it's also falling behind in the effort, which just calls for disaster.

Like the local cleaning company, other services are also owed for rendering its services such as private charter flights. According to The New York Times, Twitter has a debt of $197,725 to the aviation company for the flights that were taken in Musk's first week of acquiring the social media giant.
