It looks like Sprint will join AT&T and T-Mobile in offering the curved display LG G Flex. Sprint's variant has just passed through the FCC.
LG has been working on increasing its presence in the smartphone world. The company was chosen by Google to build last year's Nexus 4 and the current Nexus 5 flagship smartphone. LG also got support from the four major U.S. carriers - AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile - to sell its LG G2 smartphone. LG is about to gain even more smartphone success, as its curved display G Flex smartphone recently passed through the FCC with support for AT&T and T-Mobile's 4G LTE networks and now the Sprint version of the smartphone has made an appearance at the FCC as well.
The Sprint LG G Flex is listed with a model number of LS995 in the FCC documentation and has the same exact dimensions of the AT&T and T-Mobile variant that also just passed through the regulator. There hasn't been any news on Verizon offering the G Flex, but for now it looks like AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint will all offer the handset in the near future.
The LG G Flex has two very unique features that LG is hoping consumers will love. The smartphone features a 6-inch curved display that the company claims helps amplify audio in and out and contours the face nicely when making phone calls. The rear finish of the G Flex has a special self-healing feature that allows tiny scratches to seal themselves.
The LG G Flex features a 6-inch curved 1280 x 720 OLED display with a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (ppi) and it's running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It's powered by a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU).
LG ships the G Flex with 32GB of internal storage (no microSD expansion slot) and 2GB of RAM. The handset is also packing in a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and the ability to record 1080p video @60fps, as well as a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and self shots. Its wireless connectivity options include 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy), GPS, and NFC. The smartphone uses a non-removable 3,500 mAh battery.
There's no word on when we can expect to see Sprint start offering the LG G Flex, but we'll be sure to keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
