Handheld gaming consoles are gaining traction ever since Nintendo released Switch. Since then, gamers have been given the choice to purchase other handhelds like the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally. It appears that Lenovo might be entering the handheld market soon.
Lenovo's Rumored Handheld Console
Handheld consoles have come back, and gamers are more than happy about it. Other than it being a cheaper console to access certain titles, it also allows gamers to play wherever they are, whether they're relaxing at home or going out.
The device is said to be called the "Legion Go," and it will feature an 8-inch screen as well as an AMD Phoenix CPU. There are not a lot of handheld options in the market that can run more recent games, which is why Lenovo might have the right idea if the rumors are true.
Sadly, the company did not want to comment on the matter. A Lenovo spokesperson said that the company would not speak about rumors and speculation, as mentioned in Gizmodo, which might indicate that it might really just be a rumor.
If it is true and the console will use a Phoenix CPU from AMD, the handheld is expected to be light. As the report says, the processor is an ultra-thin CPU that's designed for lighter laptops. As for the other components, more details are yet to be revealed.
Another major thing that was rumored is that the console would run on Windows 11. It's unlikely that it will be able to run Steam games, especially since the digital game store already has its own handheld console.
With the operating system, it's possible that the rumored console would function like a PC, although since it's not exactly one, it might have a different user interface. As of right now, there's very little information and it's still all just a rumor.

Would It Be Better Than the Other Handhelds?
That depends on a user's preferences, and there's not really much to go on to compare it to already established handheld consoles, although there are already a couple of obvious disadvantages to it.
One of its major competitors is Nintendo with the Switch console. The video game company is already well-known in the industry and has already proven that its console actually holds up. There are also reports saying that Nintendo is planning to release a second-generation Switch.
The Steam Deck is also a worthy alternative. With its connection with Steam, players are able to play the games they have already purchased through their PC when they log in with the same account.
Right now, the rumored Legion Go is merely a handheld console with a slightly larger screen than the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, but it does not have the qualities that would sway buyers from choosing the Legion Go over the others.
One thing that the Lenovo handheld could have over the others is a cheaper price. A brand-new Nintendo Switch is around $300 while the Steam Deck can cost up to $529. Users might be encouraged to buy the cheaper option if Lenovo has a lot of compatible game titles to offer.
