HoYoverse is slowly revealing the abilities of its Fontaine-based Genshin Impact characters.
The popular game developer recently released a character teaser trailer for one of its upcoming characters, Lyney, showcasing his abilities and talents for gamers to see.
Lyney and his fellow compatriots in Fontaine will be available on Aug. 16, when Genshin Impact gets its 4.0 update.
Genshin Impact Lyney Character Details
Lyney is one of the three Fontaine siblings prominently featured in Genshin Impact's Fontaine teasers. He is a magician who possesses "great stage presence... and the gift of gab."
Similar to Mondstadt's Amber and Inazuma's Yoimiya, Lyney is a pyro bow wielder dealing Pyro damage using seemingly magical attacks. Much like Yoimiya and Tighnari, Lyney's charged attack is divided into two levels.
The first level is a normal charged pyro-infused attack, while the second will conjure a Grin-Malkin Hat that can taunt nearby opponents upon hit. If Lyney's HP is more than 60%, his Level 2 charged attack will consume some of his HP for a Prop Surplus stack which his elemental skill uses.
Furthermore, his charged attack will cause a Spirtbreath Thorn to descend on Lyney's target location, dealing Pneuma-aligned Pyro damage to it at certain intervals.
Lyney's elemental skill, Bewildering Lights, unleashes a "firework surprise" on opponents. Its damage is dependent on the number of Prop Surplus stack Lyney has (maximum is five) - the more stacks Lyney has, the more damaging the resulting explosion is.
Additionally, unleashing Lyney's elemental skill regenerates a portion of Lyney's HP based on his max HP. Interestingly, if a Grin-Malkin Hat is on the field, Bewildering Lights' fireworks surprise will cause it to explode, dealing charged Pyro attack damage to enemies caught in the blast.
When casting his elemental burst, "Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade," Lyney will turn himself into a Grin-Malkin Cat that can move around quickly. The speed Lyney gets during his elemental burst allows him to get close to opponents and deal an instance of Pyro damage to them before dismissing the Girn-Malkin Cat and igniting Pyro damage-dealing fireworks.
The fireworks cause damage over an area of effect and summon one Grin-Malkin Hat that distracts opponents as Lyney gets to a safe distance. Lyney will also receive one Prop Surplus stack at the end of his elemental burst.
Lyney Character, Talent Ascension Materials
While Lyney's abilities are fun to know, Genshin Impact players will still need to grind for the materials Lyney needs to level himself up and his talents. Players will need to earn as many Agnidus Agate pieces and Fatui Insignias as they can to ascend Lyney.
Fotaine's gifted magician will also need rainbow flowers, a Fontaine-exclusive flower, and another item that HoYoverse has yet to reveal. However, it is probable that this mystery item will also be exclusive to Fontaine; gamers might want to acquire as many Fontine-exclusive resources upon arrival ASAP.
For Lyney's talent level-up materials, he'll need a Fontaine-exclusive scroll, Fatui Insignias, and lots of Primordial Greenbloom, which has been available since the introduction of the Guardian of Apep's Oasis.
However, Primordial Greenbloom is only available to players who have completed Nahida's Story Quest, "Sapientia Oromasdis Chapter: Act II - Homecoming;" players must defeat the Guardian of Apep's Oasis to get Primordial Greenbloom.
