Motorola's final $150-off Moto X sale sells out in less than 10 minutes

Motorola held its final $150-off Moto X Cyber Monday promotion and once again sold out of its complete stock of smartphones in less than 10 minutes.

The Moto X reportedly hasn't been selling in the volume Motorola and Google were hoping for. As a way to drum up business, the smartphone maker announced that it was going to hold a Cyber Monday deal that would offer the Moto X on any carrier for $349/ 16GB and $399/ 32GB. The deal was so popular that many customers were unable to place orders for the smartphone because Motorola's servers had crashed due to overwhelming demand. The company's online store and Moto Maker customization website were down for hours, causing Motorola to issue an apology to customers.

With its issued apology, Motorola also announced that it was going to make it up to customers who missed out on getting a Moto X for $150 off by holding the same sale on Dec. 4 and Dec. 9. When Dec. 4 came around the company once again faced very high demand for the Moto X, but this time the company's sites remained online and it sold out of the smartphone in 9 minutes. Motorola posted the news to its site and also reminded customers that they would get yet another chance to get the Moto X for $349 and $399 on Dec. 9.

Before Motorola opened up sales on Dec. 9, it was pretty clear that it was once again going to face increased traffic from customers looking to purchase the Moto X on any carrier for the discounted pricing. When customers tried to access Motorola's online store they were met with a message from the company reading, "We are currently experiencing high volumes. Please try again later. Thank you for your patience."

Motorola opened sales for the $150-off Moto X deal at 12PM Eastern Time. Just as it did on Dec. 4, the company sold out of its stock of Moto X in less than 10 minutes.

"That's it. Your Moto X excitement is awesome! We have sold all the phones we allotted for this promotion", read an update posted to the site.

Since the smartphone proved to be so popular at this promotional price, Motorola and Google may want to think about possibly cutting the price of the unlocked and contract Moto X.
