Apple iWatch to launch in October 2014 alongside iPhone 6?

A new report claims that Apple will release its long-awaited iWatch in October 2014 alongside the next-generation iPhone.

We've watched the biggest tech companies battle each other with smartphones and tablets and the next area of interest will be in wearable technology. Google has already shown the world how it sees the future of wearble tech with its Google Glass eyewear. The glasses tether to your smartphone to provide always in-view information if you don't mind advertising to the world that you're wearing a rather odd-looking headpiece to obtain information. Companies like Samsung and Apple are taking a less obvious and intrusive approach and are betting on relaying similar information more discretely to your wrist with smartwatches. Google is also rumored to be working on its own Android-based smartwatch.

Samsung beat Apple to the smartwatch market when it unveiled the Galaxy Gear alongside the Galaxy Note 3. While the company was able to get a jump on Apple with its smartwatch, it appears that it might have wanted to delay the release to address many of its biggest complaints and high return rate. A new report claims Apple will release its highly anticipated iWatch in October 2014 on the heels of the next-generation iPhone (presumably iPhone 6).

C Technology is reporting that Apple has already tested two prototype iWatch devices but hasn't finalized the size of its display. Previous rumors have claimed that Apple was testing a 1.5-inch and 1.8-inch OLED displays for its smartwatch. The report also claims that the iWatch will ship with wireless charging capabilities out of the box, which is likely to address two of the Galaxy Gear's biggest complaints.

Samsung is using a 315 mAh battery inside of the smartwatch that provides users with about a single day of use before the device needs to be plugged into its cradle. Many Galaxy Gear users have complained about its lack of battery life and the design of its charging cradle, which can be troublesome when trying to easily place the smartwatch inside to charge.

Apple reportedly plans on shipping the iWatch with a wireless charger than can automatically charge the device up to a meter away in order to address battery life and offer users a device that uses a simple and elegant way of doing things. Battery life has reportedly been the major reason why the company hasn't unveiled the device yet. Sometimes its better to come to the party late than half baked.

As with all unconfirmed devices and especially ones from Apple, however, take this report with a grain of salt for now.
