Apple Might Release iOS 17 With iPhone 15

Apple's iPhone 15 might come with a shiny new operating system.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently revealed that Apple is almost done developing its iOS 17, making the idea of releasing the iPhone 15 with iOS 17 already installed possible.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 to the world at a press event on Sept. 12; the company will stream it on its official website at 1 PM ET, per CNBC.

In With The New

Gurman mentioned in his latest newsletter that he believes that Apple is almost at the finishing line as far as its development of iOS 17 is concerned. According to the reporter, the company needs to complete the software if it wants to have its iPhone 15 come with it.

Fortunately, however, this status is evidenced by the fact that Apple released the sixth, seventh, and eighth beta tests of iOS 17 in quick succession. As a result, Apple could consider the iOS 17's eighth beta test as its final version if unforeseen circumstances didn't occur, per Gurman's sources.

Additionally, Apple could also release its iPadOS 17 simultaneously with iOS 17 should nothing detrimental happen, making the iPhone 15's release a grand day for Apple fans. While people expect Apple to announce the iPhone 15's launch at its Sept. 12 press event, rumors about the device's release date put it on Sept. 22, with pre-orders starting on Sept. 15, per MacRumors.

What To Look Out For In iOS 15

iPhone users have many features to look forward to in Apple's upcoming iOS 17 update. According to CNET, the software update comes with a StandBy mode that allows an iPhone to act as a smart display. While this mode is active, an iPhone will display the time, widgets, Live Activities, and more.

Aside from that, there is the ability to use the Shortcuts app to create actions to quickly open other Camera app modes, like Video and Portrait, rather than the default Photo mode. This ability allows users to access an iPhone's camera's other skills without going through the camera's default Photo mode.

Forgetful people also stand to benefit from the release of iOS 17, as it comes with a 72-hour grace period for people who recently changed their passcodes. It lets users use their old passcode for 72 hours after they change it, giving them a chance to reset their new passcode to a more easily remembered one.

Tech Radar also reported that iOS 17 comes with a SharePlay feature that allows iPhone users to play the same game, watch the same video, or play the same music while giving them control. While listening to music, iPhone users engaged in a SharePlay session can pick the music they want to play using their own iPhones instead of playing the song they like themselves.

Interestingly, iPhone users can also send a Check In Message to another iPhone user, notifying trusted contacts (who are also using iPhones) they are safe upon arriving at their destination.

Aside from the iPhone 15, Apple's iOS 17 is compatible with the company's latest devices up until 2nd generation or later iPhone SE, per Apple's iOS 17 preview.
