Netflix and SK Previous Legal Dispute
Since 2020, Netflix and SK Broadband had lawsuit against each other due to the hit Korean series "Squid Game." Reuters reported that SK Broadband demanded Netflix to cover some of the expenses made by "Squid Game" after its increased streaming traffic in Korea.
SK estimated that Netflix should pay at least $22.9 million in 2020. Netflix then appealed and since then the companies have been trying to settle it. Fortunately, a strategic partnership is now formed.
"Netflix is committed to creating and delivering the best stories to members in Korea and audiences worldwide, and we have high expectations for the journey ahead as partners serving our customers with SK Telecom and SK Broadband," Netflix VP of APAC partnerships Tony Zameczkowski said.
