Streaming Service Bundles Emerge as Monthly Subscription Prices Have Increased

Most if not all streaming services are driving up their prices, making it more difficult for users to subscribe to more than one platform at the same time. The good news is, more bundles are being offered on top of already existing ones that can cost people less money.

New Potential Streaming Bundles

With TV show favorites spread across various streaming service, we have no choice but to subscribe to more than one, but with the recent price increase in the past year, we might have to give up on some of them as they are already too heavy on monthly budgets.

There are already bundles available such as the Disney's where you'll have access to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $14.99 a month, although all services will come with ads unlike the standalone subscriptions for each.

With the news of Disney planning to buy Comcast's remaining 33% stake, the entertainment giant will soon have full ownership of Hulu. With that on the way, we might be getting a bundle without the ESPN+ service for a cheaper price.

In fact, other reports believe that the acquisition might not lead to a bundle but a merge, wherein all Disney and Hulu streaming content will be found in just one app. Before that happens, Disney has to finalize the deal by December 1st and pay $8.61 billion, as per Cordcutters News.

The reason that this possibility is floating around is because Disney CEO Bob Iger already mentioned his plans to merge both streaming services back in May, although people will still see some form of separation between two service within the mentioned app.

Even Verizon is starting to see the appeal in bundles and may even have a better offer at hand. Compared to the Disney+ and Hulu merger, the telecommunication company plans to offer a deal that includes both Netflix and Max.

In a way, subscribers may prefer this not only because it has the leading streaming service, but Max is also shaping up to be a good platform. With the rebranding efforts conducted by the latter, subscribers will also be getting content from Discovery+.

Separately, Max and Netflix will cost around $17 a month, depending on the plan users subscribe to. The bundle, on the other hand, will reportedly cost $10 a month, as per The Verge. This could be a way to keep users from leaving the services due to increasing costs.

It Might Be a Good Deal

Not much is known about the upcoming bundles, especially since they're not even official yet. Hopefully, it provides users with the kind of content they would get from standalone ads. With the idea that they could be cheaper, the bundles might also include ads.

After all, ads have been used by streaming services to cut down subscription costs as they will make up for the loss of income by collecting ad revenue. In Disney's trio bundle for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, all three services contain ads.
