Disney has been a great influence in shaping our childhoods. The entertainment giant has produced many movies that have given us characters to look up to. However, it seems that a lot of their animal companions tend to be overlooked, so here are the best ones so far.
1. Maximus from 'Tangled'
If you've seen "Tangled," then you know well enough just how smart Maximus is. He managed to track down where Rapunzel and Flynn escaped to just by sniffing around the surroundings, like a dog, no less. He's a loyal companion and is probably smarter than most of the characters in the movie.
2. Mushu from 'Mulan'
Other than the fact that Mushu was voiced by Eddie Murphy in the first movie, the small dragon is also a great sidekick as he helps Mulan regain her honor. What's more hilarious is that he was simply supposed to wake up a larger dragon to help the protagonist, but ended up helping Mulan as he broke the dragon statue that was supposed to awaken.
3. Louis from 'Princess and the Frog'
Alligators have always been portrayed as the bad guys (animal?) in movies whether it's live-action or animated, so it's a nice twist that Louis is one of the good guys in the film. Instead of being the predatory reptile, he's simply an alligator who wants to fulfill his dream of playing the trumpet as a jazz musician.
4. Sven from 'Frozen'
Sven, even though he's a reindeer, has been a good friend to Kristoff. At the beginning of the movie, you can already see that Kristoff and Sven have been best buds since they were both little. He has gotten people out of trouble many times, galloping as fast as he can when they encounter trouble.
4. Sisu from 'Raya and the Last Dragon'
When Sisu finally emerged after Raya summoned her, we all expected a serious dragon who would help Raya reunite the tribes of Kumandra and fight off the Druun. That still happened, of course, but we got a goofy dragon who was voiced by Awkwafina and frankly, it was way better than anyone would've expected. She and Mushu would certainly get along.
5. The Cockroach from 'Wall-E'
A cockroach would've been the last thing anyone would expect in this list, but yes, the little one deserves recognition as well. Wall-E lived in a desolate place and all the other robots have died out. The only living things that survived the apocalypse were the cockroaches, and Wall-E found a friend in one. We're just glad that the robot finally had someone to communicate with.
6. Abu from 'Aladdin'
Loyalty is appreciated especially if there is no one else is willing to help you, and that's the case with Aladdin while he was still a thief in the streets, forced to do so to survive. Abu helped the protagonist with his tasks, honorable or not. He is also seen as generous when he offers his food to the hungry kids, even if he does so reluctantly.
