Amazon launched its new AI assistant that will be working and tailored to customers' business called Q, during the Amazon Web Services (AWS) re: Invent conference in Las Vegas.
Amazon Q to Compete With Leading AI Assistants in the Market
Depending on the AWS executive you will ask, Amazon Q is either named after a character in the "James Bond" movies or the Q character from the "Star Trek" shows.
Amazon Q is designed to support developers and IT professionals by building AWS applications, resolving errors and getting coding assistance. According to the company, the AI assistant is equipped with 17 years of knowledge from AWS.
"With Amazon Q, you minimize the time and effort you need to gain the knowledge required to answer AWS questions, explore new AWS capabilities, learn unfamiliar technologies, and architect solutions that fuel innovation," the company wrote in a blog post.
Similarly to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Amazon Q can hold conversational question-and-answer wherein customers can learn new things and research some of the company's best practices. Customers can start using the feature by visiting the AWS Management Console.
Amazon Q Focuses on Boosting Businesses
Aside from chatbot assistance, the AI provides personalized recommendations on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) that is compatible with your workload. Customers can also troubleshoot and easily resolve errors directly through the console.
The preview version of Q is already available for free and comes with some of its features. After the preview, several plans will be offered such as the business tier which costs $20 per person a month.
For developers and IT workers who will need the advanced features, they would have to pay $25 per person a month. Considering the prices, both plans are still cheaper compared to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Google Workspace Duet AI which costs $30 per person a month.
